Yep, only once but it was documented on TV. I'd describe it as a micronap, where your head jerks down and up as you waken up. I remained on the bike though. I was dreaming about having a nice glass of water.... then it dissapeared and I was freewheeling downhill in Melvich around 5am.

The trick with falling asleep on the bike is to wake up again before you hit anything. We had a guy who fell asleep and didn't wake up until he somersaulted over a fence which was made even more impressive by the fact he was riding fixed.

mini-Greenroofer and micro-Greenroofer have. I'm pretty sure I saw mini-kaputnik out for the count at this year's PoP, and I recall mini-Morningsider in a similar state at PoP1. Not saying that PoP is dull, just that bike seats are quite soothing.

...but I don't imagine that's the kind of bicycle user you were interested in.

@Greenroofer, that sounds like another good reason to convince Boyfriend Of Fimm that we need a tandem...

@fimm - You'd need the right kind of tandem. I'm thinking either a Pino or Circe Morpheus with pilot (Boyfriend of Fimm, perhaps?) on a conventional saddle and the stoker (fimm?) recumbent in front of them snoring gently. I don't know if these bike encourage the stoker to clip in, but if they did you might even be able to give the illusion of contributing to the pedalling while you slept.

Only thing you'd need to work out (apart from persuading Boyfriend of Fimm that he was content to do all the hard work, obviously) is how to avoid the dreadful head lolling that you sometimes see in sleeping toddlers on bike seats.

I'm sure Laidback can sort out something for you.

I think I should have added a ;-) or two to my post... or were they taken as read? I think one might be noticed if one went to sleep in front of one's pilot, Pino-style :-)

Yup, coming down Yad Moss during LEL. Several times. I can confirm a MetaBike can be recovered to upright from beyond 45 degrees angle of heel.

Cycling between Luxembourg and Stuttgart and having managed to stop for a meal in a hotel and dodge the most amazing of storms I rode on until I found I was falling asleep on the bike. Pulled off the road into woods and slid in to bivvi bag. various animals being noisy through the night and got up to carry on to nearest cafe for sausage and cabbage soup.

Still it only took around 1.5 days.
