    Lots on.

    Capital Trail
Welcome the newest addition to the UK and international bikepacking calendar:

STOP PRESS: we now have a live tracker feed from the Capital Trail 2015, so that those who aren’t riding it can follow the action from the comfort of your favourite recumbent bicycle arm chair. (Words by Markus Stitz!)

    http://trackleaders.com/capitaltrail15

There are more riders than listed here btw! Markus has made a lot of effort to get the best route possible. Hannah from The Cycle Service is doing it. It's going to be tough and slightly crazy in a good way!

Tonight is the Inspired to Ride Film. At 7pm Pleasance Caberet bar so don't go home first! May be sold out - I don't know .

    Other things from memory...

Tomorrow Bike Curious and St Andrews Ride. Also Cycle Speedway.

Sunday is Laid Back Ride and the Edinburgh Belles on Bikes

    All listed here.

Capital Trail a big hit from what I can see. All riders should be back soon!

So we've got 57 finishers now, 4 still out. Con Bonner, William Lehmann, Angus Calder & Chris Campbell - that's a pretty good rate, or?

That's more riders in at 16.32: Hannah Ward,
    Chris marquis & John Meredith.

    Well done to them.

    Meanwhile in Cramond...

That was a fun day out! Great to see Kim, Claggy Cog, LB, the Rabid Hamster, Tarmac Jockey, Weezee and miniWeezees, DaveC, Scoosh, Firedfromthecircus, and the non-CCEers alike. Spent a lot of time chatting to our visitor from Hamburg too.

Good day for it with afternoon sunshine. Seems to be a John Byrne lookalike in one of the photos above

What exactly is the point of wearing hi-vis on a 'bent? Most of it is obscured by the armchair you sit on anyway. (Sorry, this is probably the wrong thread for a rant...)

Fimm - Hi-viz is just another 'fashion' of the cycling and construction industries (!)

On trikes there's less point in wearing a helmet too.
I don't enforce dress code at these events other than warn people about keeping pockets zipped and laces tied up.. Most people honestly think that what we are offering at LB is possibly dangerous. Hence newcomers feel safer with what they would wear for upright biking.

I don't use hi-viz but do run daytime lights off my hub on the tandem with Mrs LB.

(Both the girls on the trikes ride 'normal' bikes to work so have hi-viz as part of their kit. Was cold in morning too so they needed an extra layer.)

§Gembo - John Byrne lookalike was born in Rotterdam! He has a very 'odd' recumebnt. He spent a bit of time showing why his 20 year old Roulandt model was much better than what we sell at Laid Back. Everyone could ride it first time! All good fun... :-(

The whole Edinburgh Festival of Cycling has been a success this year, thanks to all who have taken part so far. But it ain't over yet!

There is still more good stuff to come, such as the two new Audax rides, the Honest Toun Dawdle 50 Km and the Honest Toun Daunder 100 Km through East Lothian. The World Première of Battle Mountain – Graeme Obree’s Story and Mark Beaumont #AfricaSolo, which will be Mark's first public talk about is record breaking Cairo to Cape Town ride. We hope you enjoy it!

Who were the people in orange hi-vis tabards going west between Seafield and the start of Cramond Prom this evening?

Wingpig - not sure. There is another rival night ride. EdFoC tried to bring them into programme but they went alone. In fact demand for the Orginal EdFoC Night Ride has been so high that there are enough takers for both.

Today has the mini-Audaxes at Musselburgh. 50k one leaves at 11am.

I went to the Women, Read and Ride tour. Nice genteel cycle between three bookshops (all new to me) with some readings finishing in a cafe. About 15 people there & everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'd do something like that again.

I was on the (original) Edinburgh Night Ride on Friday/Saturday.

Great fun had by all. Very sociable ride. Well organised too. Smashing food at West Barns at 3am. A much needed hearty breakfast too in Leith.

    Thoroughly recommended.

I think I bumped into the 50km Audax yesterday in Cousland. A group of about eight with one recumbent. Bent rider said he thought there must be a great view over the wall but he couldn't see it. I was regretting not entering it when I left them at the bottom of the hill; turning right as they turned left to much shouting of "left, left" aimed at me presumably. I hope it went well.

There are still tickets available to see Mark Beaumont talk about his #AfricaSolo ride this Friday.

If you have not seen Mark Beaumont speaking before, he is a really great speaker, if you have seen him you know that already ;-)

@Cyclingmollie - I was that 'bent rider who couldn't see over the wall ! It was the 100km audax and was a great run going east, with a few sharp climbs but some really fast sections too.

Heading back from N Berwick was a different matter but the northerly part of the wind gave some (extra) shelter past the Longniddry Bents.
