Ambitious plans to rejuvenate Fountainbridge could see 400 new homes built over the next five years – as well as shops, offices and a public square.

Outline planning app now online - https://goo.gl/4RrXIu

    STV article - http://edinburgh.stv.tv/articles/1323454-grosvenor-plans-hundreds-of-private-rent-flats-for-springside-development/

"Instead of selling them all individually to private owners, the firm behind the plans intends to rent 141 of the flats directly to tenants."

I'm betting this is a way to reduce the amount of affordable housing required and also reduce the level of section 75 funding.

Perhaps these developers must know something that the developers of Springside or Quartermile didn't when they too where planning their own exclusive, high-end "apartment" gated communities. But they've identified a "gap" that isn't currently being served, as apparently there's a dire shortage of overpriced plasterboard boxes with french windows on the 5th floor for rent in Edinburgh.

Or perhaps there's good money to be made in building another half-empty yuppie flat ghetto? Obviously they're far cleverer than everyone else so we can only guess.

Somehow got to me on Facebook, the developers advert I guess, these flats could feature a rooftop bar and a residents lounge. Cockamamie claptrap.

A pub on your roof. How lovely.
