Thought I'd start a new thread on Festival events. Might start as tenuously related to CCE or cycling. Last nights Harmonium attracted loads of people with bikes.. So many that it was hard to get a place to leave one. The event was really inspiring even though I only could see a third of the Usher Hall from around the corner in Lothian road. I could hear it well though, and it was great to have a closed though scarily squashed Lothian road to watch it. Don't have photos , but there are loads on twitter with #harmonium. Today's festival event with obscure CCE connection will be Bruce. Report later.

from David O'Doherty, tenuously linked to Fringe as he is on at George Square (almost sold out) but this is from his new book Danger is Still Everywhere
"7. Cycling
On his list of the most dangerous ways to travel, Docter Noel has put cycling above rollerblading while blindfolded, and being fired from a cannon. What if your brakes squeak like a mouse and attract all the neighbourhood cats? Or if you accidentally cycle through somebody’s washing line, get covered with a white sheet and everybody thinks you are a ghost?"Posted 9 years ago # -
I'd recommend the Handlebards, a group of guys who cycle from show to show performing Shakespeare, and incorporate the bikes into the show. Their Twelfth Night at Lauriston Castle a couple of years ago was inventive and hilarious, and they're back this year at the Botanics with A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet. There is a show called ventoux and the two actors cycle their bikes to a backdrop of the mountain. Lifted straight from Belleville rendezvous but without the betting. Might be lemond versus Hinault theme.

Ventoux at Summerhall. Starts Thu 13, runs til 30 August, 13.55. Previews Thu 13 and Fri 14 for a bargain £5.
Courtyard cycle racks currently hard to access due to volume of people, but plenty cycle parking on railings at front and side of building.
I booked this so come along and prove me right! The guys are lovely and I think it'll be great.

Bruce was great. It even had a thrilling bike chase. Disappointed not to see the talented Uberuce of CCE in the show though. Bruce is the same team that did Alvin Sputnik in previous years, which didn't have a bike.
