You can file this under 'not a lot to do with cycling, Showbiz stuff'.

    But

I suspect some of the people posting here will be watching BBC1 at 9.

I ride a bike, partly just to make myself nervous and keep that edge of fear that is always good for acting. I come from north-west London. Every time I get to Waterloo Bridge, all the people who’ve cut me up, that I’ve braked for or who haven’t seen me, all that journey unwinds, my shoulders drop and I just go ‘Wow’

You know us too well! Must admit my first reaction after checking out the back pages of G2 was 'who the heck is he?'.

Actually, I was such a purist Holmes fan in my youth that I've never managed to watch any of the TV or movie adaptations. Might have given this a go, if I'd been here, but then again maybe not.....

Are you a 'read only' purist for everything?

Hmmmm...I did go see the LotR films, Tolkein being one of the few writers who rated above Conan Doyle in those days. (Have maintained love of Tolkein, haven't read Conan Doyle in a loong time). And watched most of the Harry Potters. I will never watch a dramatization of Arthur Ransome's books, which I am currently re-reading. It would be much too painful. The CBC did an 'Anne of Green Gables' series that was better than most. Some of the Dorothy Sayers dramatizations have been pretty good. The Narnia movie wasn't that bad.

But on the whole I'd still rather read the books.
