Mimi's Bakehouse want to expand in Corstorphine

    ...but the planners are opposed. Apparently, because 1/3 of units are in non-retail use. Maybe the planners should consider that there are lots of empty units in Corstorphine, a lot of charity shops make up those occupied, and that maybe there isn't that much demand for retail units?

    Maybe there is more to this, but surely it's better to have occupied units rather than "To Let" signs everywhere?

    I tend to agree but the planners may be doing them a favour; the shop next door is a "posh" coffee and cake place and I hardly ever see many in it, I don't know how it survives. A similar venture two blocks along did not.

    As for the "garden", they'll need to secure it with barbed wire lest local youth continues to use it as a dope smoking venue.

    Permission granted today and they aim to be open by Christmas. Sensible decision by the council.
