    I've read of this 3 ft passing rule in some American states. I feel that 3 ft isn't enough in general, and only safe in very slow moving traffic. I recall seeing (UK) advice that cars should pass cyclists leaving enough room that if they fell off sideways, the cars would miss them. That's nearer 5 or 6 ft. Is that advice in the HC?

    Also interesting that all 5 comments in the article were sympathetic to the cyclists. Can you imagine if it were in the EEN?

    If only our police force took similar action. If Police Scotland really want to protect vulnerable road users they should get out on bikes and start ticketing bad driving.

    They wouldn't even have to do it often, just spread the word that they are doing it on a regular basis. Idiots on the road behave like they do as they know there is almost no chance of prosecution for it.
