Has anyone tried any of the other alternatives to SKS Race Blades? I think the people who make Crud Catchers do mudguards that fit a road bike or are there others?

Crud RR Mk. 2 is my shout. I have them on the commuting road bike and will be buying another set for the weekend road bike for the winter. Get some :)

Thanks for the recommendations. I've ordered a pair of the Crud Road Racer MkII's from Merlin Cycles.

Arrived this morning and fitted. With a 24mm GP Attack they have (just) enough clearance. Good to get some spare fixings included. The big surprise is that they look good. They wouldn't be out of place on a carbon road bike imo. Hopefully I can get out to try them out this afternoon.

Just bought a set too after reading this thread. Hopefully my bike will have enough clearance too.
Should be here tomorrow. Au revoir, soggy breeks...

"Just bought a set too after reading this thread"
So, this forum is encouraging people to get mudguards and decent lights. How dull.
- and sensible!
We'll have to go riding to have FUN.

"chdot, need to get yourself on the Crud affiliates programme"
You could be right.
Though (even though I buy some stuff on-line too), I'd rather not be seen to promote the idea, when Edinburgh has such a good selection of bike shops!!
(Yes I support some local bookshops too!)

I'll buck the trend on Crud Roadracers - tried the MkII about a month ago and my fixed wheel doesn't have enough clearance at the front to fit them.
Tried every trick in the Crud book (and from their online videos) with 'minimal' rubbing at the front the rear end stuck out so far, even without a tail attached, that I had hideous toe overlap. The rear was superb however.
Really well made and good looking things if you've got the clearance.
