I use old tyres to repair boots but I'm open to new ideas. I couldn't find the link.

Sorry, I would have taken a photo but it said not to. It's a big sculpture by Ros Burgin but not the one on her page http://www.s-s-a.org/member/?u=rosburgin
The exhibition runs til 18 January

I was in there yesterday and the tyres looked and smelt pretty new to me...hard to be sure though.

Is it like this?

Aye, that's pretty much it.

Chris at Cycle Service did mention that he'd seen old tyres being chipped and then used for surface of outdoor play area.
I have a few in basement waiting.... !Posted 9 years ago # -
"and then used for surface of outdoor play area"
Hope they took the wires (and studs) out first!

I've got a lovely belt made out of an old tyre. (A member of another forum for cyclists which I'm a mod on started a wee sideline in making them a few years ago).

I've got a massive bag full of old tubes. Here are a few ideas for using them:
Cut out little rings of rubber to roll down over headset and seatpost to stop water getting in the frame.
Put under any attachments to seatpost or handlebars to prevent slippage.
Wrap round the chainstay of a mountain bike to protect from the chain.
If you haven't got a bike stand, suspend bike from the rafters of shed or similar with old tubes.
Affix to winter cycling boots to keep the rain out.
That is reminiscent of the "Top Tips" in Viz, but I have actually done all that.
