Someone has been knocked off their bike on Peffermill Rd, heading east. Ambulance crew & police in attendance. Hope it's not too serious.

Oh dear, I really hope they will be ok.
Which part of Peffermill Rd is that? The West half (from Cameron Toll to Prestonfield Av.) is extremely dangerous because of parked cars and traffic islands, many drivers think they can overtake between the traffic islands but then run out of space. I had a few close misses there.

+1
And a tricky road surface.

It was the section you describe. It was next to a parked car, which I don't think was directly involved in the collision.
I had a hairy moment overtaking a line of slow moving traffic. A lorry pulled over to the right to pass a parked car as I was passing. Then I had to stop at a pinch point caused by a traffic island. I'm glad I usually have the Innocent Railway to use!!Posted 9 years ago # -

Yes, but unfortunately Peffermill Rd is impossible to avoid if going East-West between e.g. KB and Craigmillar.
Besides the layout and road surface, it's also an area with particularly bad driving. Not sure why, perhaps drivers feel it's the beginning of a section of urban motorway as it widens up further east and isn't really residential. Also there are lots of lorries and vans with stressed drivers going to the industrial estates or to B&Q.
I think this part is included in the 20mph change, but really more needs to be done.
