"Cyclists and Pedestrians to Use West Footpath" (FRB)

    Yes. A few of us on here do it daily. You'll need to use the west footpath though as the east side is closed at the moment. The signage is not too bad so you should be able to follow it from inverkeithing though. If in doubt...use their less-than-adequate-in-places cyclepath as that will be signposted the best.

    @biketrain - yes from Inverkeithing head down the main street and join the cycle path at the traffic lights/zebra crossing opposite Ferrytoll. The path is quite an adventure, but you will get there by following the signs.

    West side can be a great viewpoint on a clear evening.

    Quick Q. Which cycle path is open at the moment?

    Trying to ploy a route for a pal to lead a group over the bridge and coming at it from underneath want to direct them to the correct path.

    back on the east side now, for the foreseeable future

    From 17:00 tonight, cyclists and pedestrians should use the EAST footpath on the Forth Road Bridge.

    The west footpath will close until further notice for maintenance access only.

    It took me by surprise last night and I had to double back. It's a shame there's no warning at the toucan, or I missed it.
