Back to the 1980s?

Regardless of whether the cenotaph was nearby or not, this seems like a very outdated thing to do:

Not really appropriate for a modern city (where you imagine pedestrian plazas, green spaces, etc).

Maybe this kind of behaviour was acceptable in the '80s, but today...? Who enjoys watching this kind of stuff anymore? It's a bit like watching old episodes of the Jim'll Fix It show. Creepy.

I have to admit I've wandered through loads of Ken Block videos on YouTube. The guy has astonishing car control.

I suspect I'm in the minority, but I grew up as a motorsport fan, and there's a certain amount of that enjoyment which lingers (as for this particular instance, the Cenotaph link has, in my opinion, been blown out of all proportion, and I suspect the Top Gear producers have been rubbing their hands in glee at the free publicity).

Have to say, comparing watching people doing stunts in cars, with post-event knowledge of a child-molester, might be the strangest side-by-side I read today...

I thought Top Gear was one of the world's most popular programmes. Which means loads of people like watching it.

The idea that a car whizzing past the Cenotaph is "disrespectful" is nonsense. Whitehall is normally choked with buses, cars, taxis, quite a few cyclists and hordes of tourists.

I think cycling is great and that far more trips could/should be made by bike, but I honestly don't think we will win many non-cyclists over by ridiculing their TV viewing choices.

Given the statues, Gov departments, Downing St, etc that are on Whitehall, this would be my first choice (not that anyone's asking!) for roads to be pedestrianised in central London.

Maybe this stunt could just catalyse that debate.....

As posted above, the traffic nearly running over the wreaths by the Cenotaph, as seen in Streetview doesn't really shout "respect" does it?
