In so far - me, Andy Mackay and Sandy Mackay (assuming no rain). This makes us quo rate in my book. Will be bimbling on three speed. Cultins after 11 indeed given the possibility of hanging about at start might not be at Harrison gdns til 11 so maybe 11.30

I'm pretty flexible about times if a bit earlier or later suits other people. If the boy gets tired, generally he'll just nod off.

Time is elastic. We are on the slow route and others can catch us up on roads or faster paths.
I think the snow will be gone by then. It hasn't arrived yet but is forecast
I was watching the black adder episode last night, ink and incapability where baldrick described his very short one sentence novel as his magnificent octopus

Sorry, you can't have that as a domain name; I registered it 14 years ago when I happened to be watching the same episode.
You could perhaps have OnceuponatimetherewasalovelylittlesausagecalledGembo.com?

Oh, is that why the magnificent octopus is the magnificent octopus?

At last the truth comes out

I'm still not certain what plans will be tomorrow. It depends on the weather, if it's not raining hopefully we'll manager to meet up somewhere along the way. I'll probably aim for Cutlins road around 11.30 but wont be able to wait long before the todler gets impatient.

Fleming Boy number 2 is poorly, and Fleming Boy number 1 has swimming lessons which don't finish until 11:30. But I might try and head out and hopefully catch everyone in Ratho.

Weather looks good and permission granted so will hopefully manage to meet up with the group as it passes the NTS offices.

Watch out for glass on the cobbles under the bridge beyond Slateford aqueduct. I didn't see it until I cycled through it on the way home. It wasn't there this morning. There's also a patch of broken glass just beyond the S bend near the pedestrian footbridge at Wester Hailes. Stay close to the canal when the path splits briefly to avoid it. There are various other patches to watch out for but they have been around for a while so should be less of a threat...

Cold but sunny until 11a.m. Then overcast. But dry. In case any lurkers not committing until they see what the weather holds. Wind will be tail on the return.
I guess we will muster at lochrin basin 10.30 and set off to catch acsimpson at NTS (where is that then?) Cultins road for 11.30 +\- 5 mins

Megh. Have to allotment this morning then kill some bamboo in the afternoon.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Think there will be sunniness after 11.
Currently about 5 might peak at 8.
Negligible wind.
Prospect of showers mid PM.

We're going to the cafe at the climbing centre with gembo if anyone wants to meet us there. Be there at noon.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Stopped at Bridge inn for lunch. I'll send my phone number so you can let me know when heading off.

caught at the beginning, but coming out of swimming just before 12, figured too much of a gap to catch up AND it was snowing.

That was a nice morning out, even the hail was not too bad. I got my first Can you not read the sign mate of the summer from the angry wee cyclist on the aqueduct with his angry bigger partner. I had already stopped three times to let people passed and been thanked, I am hanging over the railing and taking up less room than if pushing. I moved him along merrily.
Sorry to have missed acsimpson as I have paint for him from SRD. Based speeds on children cycling on their own but they were all attached. Also not sure where ChDot went but at least he found acsimpson.
Think the children had fun. Swans, mallard, a donkey, the soliton plaque and the climbing centre all in one morning.
I also met my old cronies in the carpark at the bridge inn. Poor Kezia she was up at Harlaw hydro espousing green energy and the Balerno village trust tweeted it only to be obliterated by immediately personal insults from the cybernats. What a nasty bunch.

Gembo, either we'll need to meet up elsewhere or you'll need to use the chalk to paint adverts yourself. Will you be in/around Balerno this afternoon?
Posted 9 years ago # -
Yes I am at home preparing melanzane and cleaning bikes until 6pm then will be screening Brooklyn at our local cinema some tix still available, doors open st joe's hall 7pm
Posted 9 years ago # -
did you not see the heron? we saw it once on the way out, then on the way back it looped over us several times (in the snow).

Managed to see three different hail showers, not bad for the middle of April. The cafe at the climbing centre is quite nice, the access to it by bike is beyond ridiculous though.
Only about 20 miles there and back, and mostly on the flat, but felt I earned that Black Forest Chocolate Cake (which tasted of rose water for some reason)

Just back from my adventures. The hail and snow hit me between Heriot-Watt and Currie so I'm assuming that was when you were all heading back. Mostly sunny on the way into town again. The AGM went well and members of the Edinburgh Community Solar Co-op are sympathetic to PoP so I ran out of flyers.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Sorry to miss you all except chdot. I did manage to meet up with gembo later so now have the arsenal to add some signage to the A90 path early this week.
jdanielp, I hope the AGM was good. I look forward to seeing the installations start across Edinburgh. Did they say if any of the sites are affected by the PPI issues?
Posted 9 years ago # -
@acsimpson fortunately not, which is more due to luck than anything since newer schools tend to have more appropriate rooves for solar panel installation. Whilst the crowd was mostly sympathetic to PoP, as I say, the average age was quite high, although a reasonable number said that they might attend on foot if not on a bicycle. Only one person was negative; an elderly man who complained about pavement cycling and then the Roseburn segregation plans. His wife, on the other hand, seemed quite enthusiastic about the PoP mission, at least for the sake of the "young people"...

"not sure where ChDot went"
Just kept with your original intention of checking out the 'new' Bridge Inn.
Bike parking the same -
And latte more expensive than PY!
It was really a day out for the Ortlieb Fan Club -
