One of the biggest stories across the world at moment it seems :-)
Even the Dalai Lama has commented.
They say English football will never be the same again. High waged players watch out - moderate wages are the future (!)

Any Leicester cycling connection the forum could dredge up to make this post relevant?

A city so obsessed with cars that they actually concreted over a king's grave to make a car park.

Edinburgh (or its uni) would never do that. Certainly not to a one-time luminary like John Knox. No sirree.

Leicester is built on a concentric plan with each circle connected by cycle ways if I remember my o grade geography

Having read the article it looks like my geography teacher was using old notes. I think the links between circles are still there but they also appear to have blasted a motorways straight through too.

If you persevere you get to the same roseburn shopkeeper no longer being able to park illegally outside her shop. They have a three lane highway with a fourth lane a cycle path. This has caused congestion. Err, the traffic causes the congestion. Etc.

But amid the football mania there are people there trying to get streets fit for people.

Leicester's provost has dream come true.

Sir Peter Soulsby explains what motivated him to oversee a range of projects such as the roll-out of shared space across the city centre, the demolition of a flyover, turning a car park into a public square, and taking out traffic lanes to make room for pedestrians and cyclists.

Edinburgh take note. Get more shared space in the city and Hearts and Hibs will move up the Scottish League(s)!

Sir Peter Soulsby will be speaking at Cycle City Active City which is being hosted by Leicester City Council on 19 and 20 May. The City Council will be staging a range of events in the city to coincide with the conference and exhibition

    Hope CEC is sending people....
