26mph would be a fine thing. I took the #35 from Fountainbridge to Easter Road yesterday afternoon. Worked out at 2.5mph average journey speed...

Depends which way you're going. To Stirling in the morning I was making 70mph pretty much all the way every day.

"The M9 between Edinburgh and Dunblane, with an average of 26.74mph"
It's only 43 miles. So over an hour and a half to drive that distance at peak time?
Probably worth taking the train instead. Only takes an hour (via Falkirk) and you can get some work done, read a book, or log on to soshul meedja without becoming a physical danger to anyone else...

It does sound like a pretty dubious figure.
There doesn't seem to be any information on how many vehicles were tracked for each motorway. I wonder if it was a pretty small number for the M9, mostly on the congested final leg into Edinburgh of a morning.
Aside from that bit, the M9 must be the quietest motorway in Britain with the fewest lorries (apart from a few miles at Falkirk and the bit north of the M80 merge there are practically none).

"It's only 43 miles"
I saw that! It just got a mile longer in the last five minutes!

I drive the M9 most days around peak time (8am-8:30 for me) and reckon that the average speed is 70+mph as far as Grangemouth. I was even awarded three points in April this year for helping keep the average speed up on the return leg.
