Edinburgh journalist Sheena McDonald presents programme around UN decade of action to halve road deaths.

Crossing Continents - Thursday, 11:00 on BBC Radio 4

    SYNOPSIS

Millions of people die on our roads each year. Hundreds of children are killed as they try to get to school each day. Road deaths threaten to overtake malaria and HIV in how many lives they take around the world, particularly in poorer countries.

Sheena McDonald visits some of the world's most dangerous roads in Kenya and Costa Rica to find out why the death toll in developing countries is rising, when the solutions to road accidents are so simple...

I wonder if this is the same programme I heard a few months back? Countries don't really care how many kids/adults are getting killed as road traffic = progress and Is A Good Thing.

"road traffic = progress and Is A Good Thing"

    So it is.

That's why we need another bridge near Queensferry and no speed reductions on 'main' city roads...
