Green MSP Alison Johnstone said ScotRail's performance "has not been good enough" but said changing the person in charge would "make little difference"

In the end Phil probably got fed up with Humza phoning him up every morning!
The Tories think that SNP was too hard on him. Some Labour / SNP people + Unions would like a publicly owned railway / something like CalMac?

With some of the older infrastructure we have it's amazing as many trains arrive on time. Must be frustrating for staff.
Mrs LB has been to Inverness and back today on business and train on time both ways. Even managed to email me from the on train wi-fi.

"In the end Phil probably got fed up with Humza phoning him up every morning!"

Sounds like a bad joke, apparently it was happening.

Not surprised he's gone to a new job.

I don't know whether he has done a good or bad job - and, more importantly, whether anyone else could have done/will do better.

Just like the Transport Minister who got 'caught out' by severe weather that closed the M8, ScotRail has suffered because of RailTrack and also the way the rolling stock system has 'worked' since privatisation.

Underestimating the passenger numbers on (for instance) the Borders line is unfortunate - arguably much of the problem was made worse by Transport Scotland pessimism/penny pinching. Instantly fixing such things with more trains/carriages is virtually impossible.

I said 'The Tories think that SNP was too hard on him.'

Seems my jest was close to the truth.

Scottish Conservative MSP Liam Kerr said it was right Mr Yousaf came to the chamber in the wake of the change of management at ScotRail, saying the government had "driven Mr Verster from his post".

War on private rail operators? Not exactly, but I hear that plans are being drawn up on how to return rail in the country to have a public element to it. Mind you the Abellio contract is not so attractive now when the Pounds get converted to Euros?
