Yes you turn right after Muirkirk and it gets hilly through Sorn and mauchline which avoids Cumnock and busy a70.

EDIT: If you mean the ToEL, that is; not a clue about Ayr...

If weather good I am still going. Easterly wind of low Beaufort scale.

It is a whole day so I understand the use of the pass required.

There is an off road tour round the pentlands that starts in porty. Talks two days. The fietsclub of Balerno attempted it in bad weather and had to phone the cavalry whilst eating a hearty breakfast at no 1 Peebles road.

A little more notice and I'd be in. Shame.

Sorry about that Iain McR it is indeed very short notice. That is why I am on my tod, well also my pal who would be going as his wee ma stays down that way is off Thursday, Friday and I am off Tuesday weds.

Next time there is a prolonged easterly and high enough temperatures I will probably go again.

Mostly crosswinds but definite tailwind through east Ayrshire - some sunshine, some good Tarmac, some bad lorries some good lorries. Sorn castle looked lovely in the sunshine, though the four miles from Sorn to mauchline involves three quite steep hills and windy descents except into mauchline which is straight descent but with massive speed bumps.

Poosie Nancy was in the doorway of her eponymous boozer in mauchline smoking a fag. That was my highlight

Ah! So it is! I was convinced it was the 19th: have they changed the date?

Possibly - I only signed up a few weeks ago when it was definitely claiming to be on the 26th.

    See you there!
