Stress at work is leading some teachers to become increasingly reliant on caffeine, alcohol and prescription drugs, while a number have seen relationships break down, according to a poll by Scotland’s fastest growing teaching union.

Fastest growing in the same way Klingon is the fastest growing language on the planet.

Not sure if I count as reliant on caffeine. I usually have decaf in school.

Was passed twice today in the countryside by panel vans where, after passing, one could smell the dope smoke left behind from the open windows. Could have been passengers, but I hae my doobts... the 2nd time was on the Roslin Glen road, which feels sketchy to cycle at the best of times.

To be quite honest, I'd support random stops and roadblocks for testing. Polis Scotland ain't the force to make it happen, though.

Doobie smoke is now significantly more common than standard issue plain tobacco smoke in my recent experience (with strange sweet vape clouds coming up the outside). May just be a bohemian edge of the New Town thing, but I doubt it.

the de rigueur waft of blue cheese skunk from the tradesman's van is now a commonplace road-faring experience

at breakfast time also.. some chronic use to get through the day

Is there any chance it's just a smell/flavour?

    (I've noticed more recently too.)

nah, when it hits my olfactory system as i cycle by, the cannabinoid THC receptors do their distinctive thing

i'd be surprised if it contributes to any daytime road incidents, probably slows them down a bit

evening time boy racers would be another story though

I found this documentary from the 1960's which highlights some of the issues.
