But instead of cars, the food will be delivered by couriers on bikes or scooters.

Saw one tonight - same box-on-the-back kit as Deliveroo but with Uber branding instead

So we have Deliveroo vs Jinn vs Uber.
Jinn carries non food as well. Jinn riders don't have to sit in Grassmarket or Charlotte Square.

  5. Sitting on a 22 bus on Leith Walk last night, and an Uber delivery rider (young lady, looking a bit wobbly and none-too-confident) pulled into the Advanced Stop Box at the lights. A second or two later, a Deliveroo rider also pulled into the box. A young lad, much more confident-looking.

When the lights changed, he was off like a rocket, whereas she wobbled off and somehow managed to ride downhill at a rate just above casual walking speed. The bus crept along behind her as she (sensibly)stuck to the bus lane away from the slightly faster traffic.

I got the feeling she hadn't been on a bike for many a year until yesterday. Not sure what qualifications you need to be an Uber rider, but being a confident bike rider in traffic obviously isn't one they check for.

Hopefully she isn't put off & grows in confidence over the weeks / months. The more people we get onto bikes the better, especially so if we're increasingly asking businesses to provide local delivery without clogging thr roads up with more cars.

Maybe we can persuade La Favorita to ditch the double-parked, bike-lane-blocking Puntos & delivery by bike?

One of the cafes on Roseburn Terrace who opposed the bike lane use Deliveroo.

  7. If the Cafe had a jukebox, I'd be in there loading the cash in and putting Alanis Morrisette's 'Ironic' on endless repeat!

Not noticed Deliveroo cyclists on the path by the tram nerp or any where but the road may be the cycle path could slow their cyclists down if they cyclist at a "dutch" speed
