It's not how big they are, but how cameras imply they are used...

Oh yes, Aru gives VC Mont Aigoual its first stage win.

Not sure how demare has acquired most points in the league. Kittel also. Big scorer and froomey and G of course I should take time off work to watch every frame.

Looks like a lot of withdrawals after yesterday, including some for being too slow!
http://www.letour.fr/le-tour/2017/us/withdrawals.htmlA valuable member of my team is waiting to see how he feels after the rest day :( And Porte was also in my team :((

As well as all the other thoughts I had about Geraint Thomas's crash he was also my team leader and top points scorer. With Quintana and Contador looking tired I think my team is going down.

I'm doing rather badly, but there are some fab team names in there!
Posted 7 years ago # -
I was thinking my team was doing better than usual today but actually I just lost another of my team
Posted 7 years ago # -
It's been a good start but I fear with Porte's exit I'm scuppered.

Rafa majka out now after the infamous stage. One tough mutha but my team now down to seven
Posted 7 years ago # -
No points for me today, understandable given they all left it out there on the mountains on Sunday.

Four CCE teams have 4 riders withdrawn.
Only Shobogenzo and Hart`s Cyclery Dream Team are running unscathed.
Shobogenzo has taken a commanding lead...Posted 7 years ago # -

I picked the wrong German sprinter or I could have been a contender. If ifs and buts were coffe cups, I would have a lot of coffee.

Better German than French (in the sprinting world)

In the olden days If someone like Demare or even Cav failed to finish did they still get their stage wins? Sagan gets green because he can sprint and also avoid the cut off on hills? Do kittel and Greipel finish?

Another of my team may withdraw :(

@Gembo riders still get UCI and World Tour points for their results prior to dropping out. But obviously, you only get GC UCI/WT points if you place on the GC. There are no UCI/WT points for positions in the other jersey classifications.
Kittel has at least half a team dedicated to pacing him through the mountains. Griepel is pretty strong and can climb quite well himself, but he'll have a few riders dedicated to grupetto pacing as well. Demare was ill and FdJ cocked up horribly in wasting so many riders trying to save him a few days back. He'd normally expect to get to Paris.
ASO have been mucking about with the Green Jersey for a while now and it currently massively favours Sagan over a traditional sprinter. Although this year, due to the pure number of 90s style flat stages Kittel would likely be pushing Sagan quite close, just because he's won so many stages.

Fuglsang going backwards, looks like my first casualty. He does have a broken wrist, after all!
Posted 7 years ago # -
But Cummings about to hoover up some Summit points over the Port de Bales :-)

@hartscyclery, ta for expo of rules. Would also like to understand Velo Fantasy rules too but not that much. Losing fuglsang leaves me without GC after losing Porte but Barguil should have more points as KOM ? Despite three out, my nine all picking up points. I am not bitter but some other teams only have four big scoring riders.

I'm seeing a close correlation between the number of points scored and interest in, and knowledge of, road racing. Is that what's going on? Might as well be Strictly for all I understand the scoring.
I'm still lower mid table with a team picked by osmosis mind.

@iwrats,mthat is a fair correlation. There is a slight element of luck in which sprinters or GC riders you picked. E.g. If you went for the obvious Sagan, you got the elbow.but if you went for Marcel Kitten Heels then you score big. Yesterday Sky went all out but Aru just held their wheel. Landa feels he could have won it but Froome did not deliver (though he still gets you lots of points if you like him, but do read the comments under the froome contador clip that PS posted. Doping or mechanical doping according to what we used to call The Rest of Europe.
Understanding form might help. I guessed at Porte and Fuglsang as both impressed in the criterium de dauphinois where Froome looked to crack. Alas both Porte and Fuglsang are busted.
Bardet and Aru both chirpy in interview last night but today the climbing is steep with no flat bits.

My nephew is a polite and gentle fellow. He was embarrassed to mention British mechanical doping to me three years ago, thinking I'd be bothered. I just thanked him for suggesting a good band name.

"thinking I'd be bothered"
"British" "mechanical" or "doping"?
Posted 7 years ago # -
Kittel is very good value for the points he would have cost you in your team. My man Uran is close to him in the points per cost but he cost half as much and has scored just under half.

"British" "mechanical" or "doping"?
Most likely the first. I try not to labour my views on British identity or my general belief that any road cyclist not engaged in doping is unlikely to feature in a televised race.

@gembo - nice idea to work out VFM. Steve Cummings is looking much better now
Posted 7 years ago # -
@amir, hopefully he will have another of his trademark breakaways and not get caught this time.
Posted 7 years ago # -
Uran now my top scorer for only 8 points
