froome might be an obvious pick but he comes at a significant cost and doesn't necessarily win many stages
i don't have him down as an automatic pick, there's a fair bit to weigh up first
the younger froome had some semblance of personality but Sky PR did a job on him and now he is permanently on-message
this also why they ditched brad w prematurely, they just couldn't groom him to fit the mould

Agreed he pulled some crazy shit when young like identity theft, fraud etc to get noticed.

but i only picked him this time, because i felt i could get by on this tour without a sprinter or breakaway specialist, and still have some gc contenders to choose from, should froome DNF.

you be going on about froome again as if my selecting him means a guaranteed league win
but that's absurd, others have been known to pick him also
and the events of today's stage are certainly what i expect from the vuelta
but let's put it to the test
next year, we could run the grand tour leagues on the understanding that no one is allowed to pick froome
then we'll see how it pans out
it'll be a froome free fantasy for all
..or instead of an outright ban - how about
"you can pick froome in 2018, but if you do, be advised that your potential league victory may be severely tainted by association"

@bax, plenty folk above me who did not pick froomey. Sorry to bang on, anyone should pick anyone. Froome is obvious is all I am saying but you are saying he isn't obvious. But again I do not mind I have no axe to grind. One thing though, if his form goes on like this next year and the year after we will be in lance territory so I hope he wins his double then starts to diminish in power like a normal person.

EDIT, Got it, he crashed (twice) as we have discussed previously, my view that he will win this race if he does not crash, though the Angliru on the last day Is formidable.
Chaves not doing it anymore though Nibs is there. So maybe it will get more interesting .

I recently enjoyed reading Ned Boulting's "How I Won the Yellow Jumper". Not sure if it would stand me in much good stead against MiniSRD's skills, though.
