Someone tried knick my bike last night by drilling through the keyhole of my kyptonite silver d-lock. They've completely failed and my bike is intact, however the lock is inoperable and i cannot remove my bike now which i need to get to uni/work.

How do I get this bike back on the road? What dangerous power tool is needed to cut through a d-lock? And more importantly, how can i do it without looking like i'm knicking the bike? Should i inform the police of my actions before hand?

    Thanks!

A battery-powered angle grinder will take it off in thirty seconds.

No one will bat an eyelid.

Yep. Angle grinder. Watch you don't cut into the frame by accident mind!

Depending on what it's attached to you can use a car jack to blow out a kryptonite lock.

Screwfix had them on special for £150 last week!

Or maybe someone on here might already have one?

Depending on where the bike is the Bike Station may agree to remove the lock for you. £40 I think.

You could join the Edinburgh Tool Library (£20 fee, £10 deposit) and hire the angle grinder for free.

I may be able to help, depends on location of bike. Can you prove ownership? PM sent.
