It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Rubbish drawing, but if green guy is there with red light /heavy traffic and cyclists/ped s on opposite side and has pushed button, and I (red) pullup beside him, why then do the yellow cyclists swarm up and sit in front of us and block our lines?
ARGH. drives me nuts. and this doesn't even include the idiots that skip the dogleg only to pull out in front ofme after I've turned right...double ARGH.
Maybe I'm generalising too much, but the yellow cyclists seem to fall into two groups - really quick cyclists and...not very quick cyclists.
The really quick ones do it, I presume, because they don't want to get stuck behind us mere mortals. Fair enough, I think, as long as they actually are quicker than us.
I'm less sure about why the slow not fast ones do it. Being generous, they could be trying to ensure they are seen? Or perhaps they don't realise how annoying it is to overtake slower cyclists, and think that no one is being disadvantaged?
People make decisions like this all the time. The same person may pull in behind or move in front of you. Some cyclists MGIF and will always go in front of you but they are fewer in number. The situation often defines the behaviour. So at my Lothian road four lane junction with only one lane going forward and cars, lorries and vans all around I will hold back but yesterday a guy scooted up between all the traffic to get to the front. But to the left of the lane to go straight on. I was not bothered as this week I am on massiv electric bike ( yesterday with no battery). You sit up and enjoy the journey more. When battery working you take about same time. Maybe not downhill, but you get some thrust from stationary.
Last night I had a guy overtake me on his bike towards grove street he was completely tanking it, a big guy, going at about 30mph, wobbling a bit like he was sprinting for the finish rather than taking a dangerous right turn. He did give a minimal hand signal but glad he put his hand back on the bars given his speed. Was impressive. Takes all sorts. @SRD are the students back then shoaling on melville drive?
