    First post following HC's instructions:

Dull admin type post about changing passwords

But actual first post aboutStation bike parking (situation has improved; or maybe just kept still due to increased levels of cycling?)
I seem to recall that this was really pretty early on in the history of the forum - think I was reading the forum from the very start after being on chdot's invite email list.

@gembo - if anyone knows how to find your true first post then the instructions can be amended (by admin as my hour is up). I've no idea what else you could try to find it though.

@hankchief, I liked your instructions and thank you warmly for them. I have no desire for version 2 instructions, I am merely passing the time pleasantly until the ten 17 year olds having a gathering in my front room give me my house back.

In other news we are going to cupcakes tomorrow,me think it was rider 73 who was looking for Bathgate Alps coffee stop, maybe we will see the duranos.

My first post was this, about the Kingsknowe Rat. Interestingly (well, a little bit interestingly), it's a different wildlife thread to the one that we conventionally use now.

The Kingsknowe Rat is still going strong. I encountered him/her last week out towards Wester Hailes.

@grenroofer, indeed, the kingsnowe rat was running along in front of jdanielp the other night.

I have a colleague wh stays in the flats with the wall tiles at meggetland, next to the canal. Sh was asking me if I thought the kingsnowe rat would bother her. I said, how many flights up is your flat? She Said three so I said sh would be OK. Alas she then wanted guarantee she could walk the towpath then down to slateford station without meeting the kingsknowe rat. I was not able to give that guarantee.

The nursing home seems to have ground to a standstill.

In other news careful everyone on wol path. Lots of maintenance ongoing, lot of fences in middle of path, starting just after the footbridge right up to colinton. Then in a separate issue, mthe crazy new town of houses Cala have built in the floodplain at kinleith also have protruding fence work to keep us from the building site

“after being on chdot's invite email list”

Think this would be the .citycycling list, so I presume I didn’t actually send it.

Useful reminder that one key reason for the success of CCE was that there were lists of people that we thought might be interested in ‘CCE’.

I’m not pretending that I had any idea how things would develop!

Ah, ok. Sent by Anth then?

    Wonder if I kept it?

“Ah, ok. Sent by Anth then?”

    Think so.

Three years ago, a post about an FOI request I made after Edinburgh South Police's 'day of action' on rogue cyclists.

I appear to have been a member of the forum for four years prior to that, is there a record for the longest lurk?

“I appear to have been a member of the forum for four years prior to that, is there a record for the longest lurk?”

    Yes/no.

There are several people who posted a considerable amount of time after registering - though four years could be the record.

There are people who have years between posts.

There are people who have never posted.

Mine was about child bike seats, which was a particular obsession of mine six years ago (and until quite recently). I shan't bore everyone by posting a link...

  12. Although I joined 9 years ago, my first post seems to have ben 7 years ago on a thread about uncleared paths.

Council were using tiny stone chippings instead of salt on the paths and I ended up with 4 punctures...

  14. @chdot Oops!!! Heheheh. Let me correct that, as I really need to get my eyes tested (or stop reading forums when I should be asleep in bed).

I joined 7 years ago in 2009. (My eyes saw the 9 in 2009 and somehow my brain then rearranged that into joining 9 years ago).

My first post was in the thread about mileage allowance in 2009. This place was like a breath of fresh air after years watching uk.rec.cycling descend into chaos.

"This place was like a breath of fresh air"

    Hope it still is.

Some people have been here 'forever', others keep coming but inevitably there are those who have left.

My first post was eight years ago. Putting the case for pedestrianisation of George Street. I stand by it. ;-)
