What was your first CCE post?

    To celebrate our 8th Birthday, I wonder if people would share their 1st post on CCE.

    Here's mine from 2012. I was bold enough to start my own thread to get some comfort that I wasn't in the wrong.

    You can access yours by clicking on 'View our profile' above (near private messages) and scrolling through to the last post on your list. Press the link and it takes you to the start of the thread, so you'll have to work through to find yours (sorry if yours was on spotted). Once you have found yours, then click on the '#' at the bottom which changes the webpage address to link to exact post. Then cut & paste it into a post below (bonus points for using the URL code but it's not necessary).

    There should be a prize for the newest & oldest 1st post...

    Gembo - Instructions in my 3rd Paragraph.

    If you want to avoid your postings from the 1st year, then just move a few pages back (when looking at your list of posts).

    In my first post I talked about mileage rates for cycling. Seven or eight years later, my work's rate is still exactly the same.

    In my first post I was still griping about the same old same old.

    Seven years ago I claimed twenty years' commuting experience in Edinburgh. Feels like I started during one of the Jacobite uprisings now.

    Mine was 7 years ago, about the New bike parking in Edinburgh Waverly I remember I had made a quick trip to London for a meeting and to see a run of show that I was working on over the Fringe before getting the sleeper back.

    Also I miss that bike.

    Some great insights on what made people take their first step from 'watcher' to poster.

    Some similarity with the types of posts people currently make. I especially like IWRATS' scheming from the get go. How's that working out for you?

    Or do we need to book in another CCE pub night to hear it?

    @chdot - are you referring to the tandem plus Tagalong? I 1st spotted one like it at POP3 and so knew it could be done.

    Yes, many posters have their own style. Some don't read instructions for instance (mentioning no names).

    And the world is richer for it :-)

    There are the 2 rules of CCE a.k.a. RULES but I was referring to this 2nd attempt at instructing.

    I posted in 2009 about the new cycle facilities in the office that I finally moved out of only last week. Back then I seemed to be the only person using them, it's a changed place now.

    Time for some killjoy pedantry? Always!

    These aren't actually (necessarily) your first posts - if you post again in a thread, it jumps back to the top of the list.

    I'm pretty sure my own first post is in either the rubbish driving or rubbish taxi driving thread, but this is the one which I get to following @HankChief's method. A good old complaint about the weather.

    Mine was one about rain but I note the seven years is wrong if anth then Wilmington's cow then in the huff posted about an alleycat thing in Nov 2009 which also gets stated as Sven years? Ah wait, no it is not November yet. I get confused with the clocks going back.

    Anyway my favourite interaction on here was when I thought Instography was having an argument with himself having changed his handle half way through the thread. I got confused.

    Instography mostly beer now but some cycling.

    Some people come in with a bang and calm down (recombodna' first few posts were spectacular, then he invented Spotted which is coming up to 10,000. I do hope the 10,000th is Wilmington cow spotting ChDot)

    Seven years ago - about the new trains for the Edinburgh-Glasgow line. The trains still haven't been introduced, the proposed number of services has been cut from 6 to 4 per hour and the predicted fastest end-to-end journey time has increased from 37 minutes to 42.
