    Henry
I am mighty tempted to join you.
Have you settled on a date & route?
I need a decent long ride to finish off this years cycling challenges so a 100 miler fits the bill.

    Who's Henry? ;-)

The plan has formed to be on the 6.19am train from Haymarket to Carlisle on 28th December and cycle back from there via Lockerbie & Eskdalemuir (lunch probably at Gordon Arms). Steady pace.

2 takers so far. You're more than welcome to join us.

Have you kept your 10km per day clean sweep going? That's some achievement.

Aye I've recorded a ride every day this year & am closing in on 15000km for the year.
I got pneumonia a week after LEL which limited rides a wee bit.
Had a quick look at trains and see I can get the 0619 from Haymarket for £22.50 or the 0652 for £8.50 but that gets in 30 minutes behind you.
Let me see if I can book my bike on and I'll let you know what I decide.

I had a quick look at potential stops today - as once out of Lockerbie it's thin pickings.

The cafe at the Honey Cottage holiday park will be closed - but that's only 20/25km short of the Gordon Arms which will be open. So manageable.

Ideally the community cafe or the Samye Ling in Eskdalemuir will be open - I've emailed both, no response yet.

I'd rather not carry a flask.

Cool. You should get on - When @Greenroofer & I did something similar last year we were the only people on the train.

Iain McR - good idea to plan reheating points.

    So .......

Lockerbie is 43km, we should def stop somewhere there, as after that options until Innerleithen (114km) are:

    Eskdalemuir Hub @ 65k.
    Buddhists @ 67k (closed 1215-1330).
    Pub - Tushielaw Inn @ 89k (open 1100-1400).
Pub - Gordon Arms @ 100k (open all day).
Friend @ Traquair @ 112k for emergency bail.
    Innerleithen @ 114k.

I've booked a ticket to Lockerbie (arrive 9:10). Possible I'll change my mind and cycle to Innerleithen or the Gordon Arms instead, though.

Sorry we have visitors. Might be available 30th. But I should only have a few miles to make my revised target

@Iain McR you are a low down dirty liar!

I will think of you all scoffing Greggs sausage rolls by the roadside with another 60 miles to go. I might take a wee spin around the Meadows at lunchtime and stop for a nice coffee and cake in solidarity...

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll wait at Café 91 in Lockerbie.

I think you both have my email address, and possibly my phone number, or can post here.

    @unhurt, we'll meet you outside Gregg's, aye?

I'm going to go to Snax for lunch tomorrow

Leaving Lockerbie at half nine and getting to Edinburgh in time for lunch is ambitious, I have to admit. Dick Turpin would be proud.

2 hardy souls made the first train (albeit running 10mins late).

Decided my rear was a little too soft so stopped at the Haymarket outside tool stand and promptly let out all the air :-(

I assume the rest if you will be coming down with Frenchy in the next train...

Have fun, or "fun" depending on your masochistic preferences.

@HankChief Decided my rear was a little too soft
That could get uncomfortable on a long ride...

Very pretty out the train window, anyway. If I can maintain both balance and circulation, it will be a lovely ride back.

Made it to Lockerbie. Roads not too bad. Icy on the edges but fine in the middle.

Was -4c in Gretna, has now warmed up to -1c.

Breakfast rolls are the order of the day.

Gordon's Arms for lunch. Still some snow here.

    No sign of unhurt...

May be dark before we get back to Auld Reekie. Leave the outside lights on for us.

Looks like you ‘chose’ the right day -

A snow warning has been issued for Scotland’s two largest cities as temperatures are set to plunge.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for tomorrow, predicting snowfall across Edinburgh and the Lothians, Glasgow and Strathclyde and the Scottish Borders.

I think we keep seeing Unhurt in the distance, we can't quite seem to catch her.
