    Lets go for it....
Why don't we pedal over to Haymarket or Waverley and check it out/book tickets?
I'm free all day Saturday or anytime next week.
I think you still have my phone number.

I've used sleeper on way back a couple of times and was 'discouraged'.
Ridiculous really - especially as they are doing refurb of coaches.

Excellent - Sound like we have a plan (for you, me & Iain McR on 31st). I'll set up a WhatsApp chat.

Anyone fancing a 50mile ride could get a train to Gleneagles (0923 - 1057) and await our arrival in Auchterader. #justsaying

Poor Cliff - his phone notifications are going to get a hammering & I happen to know he is up pre-dawn for a long ride tomorrow. Hope he's turned it off.

is it the previous shared Strava route "Home from Arrochar" ?

Yes. Although at over £1 per mile for the extra distance, I'd be inclined to get off at Garelochhead, save the money and enjoy 11miles more on the bike. But I am open to someone being sensible and saying we should stay aboard.

I am challenging your use of the word "enjoy" in this context.

    I'd pay £1/mile for a reduction.

Split ticketing might be the cheaper option and would really annoy the train staff if they thought 3 bikes were getting off & on at every station.

Drat. All the cycle spaces have gone for both the 29th & 31st...

Does anyone have a car that could drop us off in Arrochar at 7am?!

we could just cycle to Gala and back - Borders Railway close if weather is too grim or legs give up.

Sadly I am going to have to give it a miss. Been laid up since the Sunday before Chrimbo when I had to bail on a planned Century.
Suffering with a horrible lurgy that has wiped me out.
Just booked a 200km Audax down in Darlington on 20 Jan. Driving down with Dalgety Dave on the Saturday with the night in a local Premier Inn. Space in car for one extra bike & person.....

That's a shame Cliff. Hope you are back on your feet/pedals soon.

I will contemplate the Darlington jaunt...

@HC - think I'm out, have over-cycled in the last 10 days. Need a few days off b4 next year's Strava target chase commences.

    A typical audaxer insult :)

I've just reached my target of 7152 miles (set in retrospect)

    Impressive figures Amir.

Being the only person in my carriage to Helensburgh, the chat is quite subdued...

@Gembo- my route choice and the wind direction is purely coincidental ;-)

Currently in Lochearnhead having an early lunch.

I always find when I ride by myself that the 'chat' consists of my companion repeating the two-thirds of one verse and a line from the chorus of whatever song has got stuck in her head for the day. I hope the quality of your own internal conversation was better.

Sally, your companion sounds stranglers like mine.

I have ridden alone for days at a time and that is all I have to say about that.
