Almost half of the bins in my area of town have recently disappeared. I'm not sure if they've been deliberately removed by the council, or if more nefarious forces are at work; currently waiting for a response from the council.

Is this happening elsewhere in Edinburgh?

We're Midlothian but 3 of my neighbours (out of 12 houses) including me have lost bins in the last couple of months.

    That's incredibly odd =/

But to be clear, what I've noticed disappearing is public bins on streets, like this one, which disappeared a few weeks ago.

Once upon a time in Belfast the UVF stole my wheelie bin.

    (I stole it back.)

I have a spare bin which the council did not remove. Green but with a big crack in it. Not selling it. It also has a carpet in it that I bought at saughton carpets when realised we put a decent floor down after eldest's seventeenth but before her eighteenth. A broken bin and a scabby carpet for Xmas, anyone?

How many autobiographies are you planning?

Some people do write several autobiographies which seems odd.

One autobiography in several volumes ok but the whole life then later the whole life again?

    I fancy kirriemuir's own David Niven's The Moon's A Balloon for Xmas.

So I might be able to shed light on this.

My little brother lives in dalkeith. He wrote to the council along with many others to complain about the overflowing bins on the estate where he lives and the surrounding area.

Received a lovely letter back saying (I'm paraphrasing from a second hand story btw) "Thanks so much for your enquiry and bringing this to our attention. Upon review it seems that many of the installed bins were incorrectly allocated and therefore were not being emptied, as the emptying team [presumably a different team to that which puts bins out] were not aware of them.

To remedy this situation we've removed the extraneous bins and you can rest assured that all the remaining bins will be emptied regularly"

    Perhaps something similar?

Should note that the amount of litter and dog poo bags blowing around has increased in their area.
