I'll do any new handlebars at Haymarket Thursday morning when I'm down.
Will do Waverley tomorrow morning when I'm no doubt 25 minutes early for my train because I'm paranoid about getting a puncture on the way to the station for a booked train...

Someone had done about a quarter of the east bit of Waverley before I did all of it (and Platform 19) on Monday lunchtime. Hopefully there'll be some new ones now that most schools are back.

Limited edition Feeder ride flags...
Feeder Ride Flags by HankChief, on Flickr
Also, we should take the opportunity to put up posters on common cycle routes. Laminated posters will have more longevity, but with the good weather even the A5 ones should last a while.

Yes please! These are pretty nice quality flyers so they should last quite well if you can't laminate them

Most of the bikes in Waverley had been done. Good work everyone.
I've left my bike un-adorned so interested to see if it get's flyered while I'm in newcastle today.

Maybe you'll even get one of those Deliveroo cards which were also infesting many of the two-storey rack occupants.

Looks like at least one handlebar flyer has not been in vain:
"Yes! Thank you to whoever attached this to my bike to let me know about @POPScotland’s mass #PoP2018 cycle to #Edinburgh parliament on 28 April! Will be there with bells (on my bike) & whistles

Did the Council front door earlier. I get the impression of lots of bike commuters there but everyone with a pass locks up in the car park

Haymarket first pass complete.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Noted. I intend to do another pass later.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Poster Plea: please do put up A4 / A5 posters on bike routes near you / that you use!
I have c. 80 laminated ones to start going up tomorrow, and should have c. 150 more to give you by the weekend if you want 'em.
If feeling enthused you can alos print your own (https://pedalonparliament.org/resources/) and put up / laminate & put up!

Did the bikes at Haymarket on my way home, but to be honest only got about 10 that wingpig hadn't got earlier. Went round by Dalry swimming pool and did the bikes there, to make up for the fact that I hadn't even thought of doing the bikes when I was there in the morning! Next time I swim there I will try and remember.
I think I will try and do a morning run at the Haymarket bikes sometime next week.

Had a terribly encouraging handlebar session yesterday -
Waverley - Already being thoroughly flyered by Walk Cycle Vote
Did some solo bikes along George IVth bridge heading to the meadows and found all of the bikes at the sainsburies already covered by an electric bike riding forumer!
Abandoned the idea I could find bikes to cover in the large parking area and cycled around the meadows giving flyers to all the people with bikes having BBQs on there. Some very positive responses.
Haymarket this morning had quite good coverage but I was running late so didn't get a chance to thoroughly check.

Just handlebar flyered 200 bikes at work.
One of which had a flyer from last year on It, but excitingly there was also one which already had a 2018 flyer on :-)
Posted 6 years ago # -
I took a small pile of flyers to each of these today.
Planet Velo (Dunfermline)
Ryan's Surgery (Inverkeithing)
Sandy Wallace (Inverkeithing)There's probably about 30 in each which will hopefully keep them going.
I then stopped to put some on lampposts this side of the Forth and discovered I didn't have the hole punched ones in my bag. Hopefully they are on my desk at work and I'll get them up tomorrow.

Thanks! Every flyer helps.
@HankChief - had the 2017 tagged bike moved in the intervening year?

My roadie still has the POP17 Glasgow Ride flag on it

@unhurt I am running the fietsclub Balerno fairtrade smoothie bike at the fairtrade coffee morning this Saturday. We could hav posters and flyers. Oh wait Intel suggests that is already the case :-)

Going to take another pass at waverley again shortly on my way to Newcastle.

As you may have seen, we're not having politicians speaking at POP this year (to the relief of most, I imagine).
https://pedalonparliament.org/a-peoples-pop/
We're putting together as diverse a slate of speakers as we can instead - we've got a few people lined up already but would still welcome more, particularly from young people. If anyone has an articulate child or teenager they can lend us, that would be fab. We're doing okay for gender balance but it would be good to find a few more speakers who don't tick all the 'white able-bodied middle class' boxes...

Busy morning...
Handing out flyers on the trackside path near the Gyle I asked the lady cycling next to us if she had heard about PoP.
She had & she had come through from Airdrie especially but had mixed up the dates.
No worries I say and I guide her to the Russell Road Zigzags and set her off to explore the NEPN.
It could have been better had I realised in advance that the next but one person I got chatting to was at there for a Cycling for Softies ride...
Spots (with varying levels of chats) today include Ian McR, a Murrayfield Community Councillor, my local Cllr (on his new bike) & @Harts.
Oh and when handing our flyers to neighbours with bikeracks, one of them told me he had chatted to then lost Airdrie lady early and pointed her to town.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Did you ask her if she knew the other cyclist from Airdrie?
Posted 6 years ago # -
Well if she's coming she might join the feeder ride at Edinburgh Park (handy as both platforms roll straight on to the street - but can folk look out for train arrivals on the North side platform - they need to head east for the underpass.
Spoke to Scotrail and Airdrie-Bathgate should be running 6-car trains all day.
Going back by rail the focus need to be Waverley as most services start from here, leaving time to load extra bikes safely. Avoid the hill (but not the cobbles) by using the 'back-door' via Calton Road - it has wheeling ramps and a set of lifts, but note that many of the 'Airdrie' services leave from 'The Sub' (Platforms 8 & 9) or even Platform 10 (The Klondyke) and its simpler to come in via the Market Street entrance - up Canongate down New Street...

As per my instructions I have been trying to purchase a t-shirt. Seems to get into a loop around an invalid stripe code?
I am quietly confident I will get a t-shirt as I am connected. But I would like to pay for it. I can give Angela cash like last year when she had to be convinced to take it. But PY this week will need to start early e.g. 7.30a.m. As I have a meeting rescheduled for first thing.
Posted 6 years ago # -
I have passed your message on to the T-Shirt Corps.
Posted 6 years ago # -
Ta,I believe the shirt will be in a parcel tomorrow, it is the payment I wish to make.
