Myself and my better half are genuinely really excited tomorrow for POP. We've always been working on the days it has previously been on, so it will be nice to finally take part and show support for sustainable travel.

Do take the time to revel in it, befre and after the ride. It's magnificent.

Nearly 9 year old daughter went for a quick spin on the tandem today, to see if she fits the stoker seat. All ship shape and Bristol fashion - we aim to join the Leith feeder ride when it passes through Abbeyhill. Mrs crowriver may also join us. Surly 13 year old son has "better things to do" apparently. Oh well you can't please them all...

    Hope the dry weather holds!

Apparently there's some fencing up around the new grass where we usually gather at parliament.

daisydaisy - not a problem. The barriers are there to protect new grass, growing up around the rocks placed to stop the "independence campaigners" from parking their caravans on the grass again. There is a wide row of wooden bollards that cyclists can still pass through to access the grassy area - a minor niggle, I think.

    Lovely, gentle people. Totally unhinged.

Gah. Pulled a muscle in my back. Still sore. No tandeming for this old man today.

Have a good one folks. Hope the rain relents...

It was raining, yet the line of bikes still went way round the corner, so I'm happy.

Was that @gembo at the back with the tartan bunnet and the cup of red wine?

Fantastic day, even without taking the weather earlier into consideration.

Thanks to the organisers for another fantastic event, incredible turnout given the earlier weather. Always amazes me that thousands of cyclists simply melt into the city after PoP. Cycled back through the Meadows and there was no clue that anything had happened at all.

Ah yes Frenchy, the bunnet is a woollen tam o'shanter dipped in petrol by the fishwives of Lewis to give the fibres an element of waterproofing, one of the other bunneteers has a strip of tartan around her Glengarry. Was that @frenchy with a big black greyhound dug called Boab?

The fact that so many cyclists didn't let the pretty horrible (cold, wet generally unpleasant) weather put them off making a public statement to our politicians today surely strengthens the case for improving cycling infrastructure and making cycling safer in Scotland?

It's sufficiently important that rain and cold don't significantly reduce numbers turning up to make the point. Great speech from the 17-yo lass too !

Now, I wonder if any of the 'unconverted' politicians will take that into account ...

We 'earned' our sunshine at the Parliament !

It was my first PoP and really enjoyed it. Joined the Harrison Park feeder. Thanks everyone for organising!

I wonder when I will lose the flag.

"I wonder when I will lose the flag."

This year's crop will gently biodegrade.

I roll with the flag for several months after the event. Good way to stop encroachment.

Been a while since I posted but I made an effort regardless. Managed to get my washing dry when I hung it out this morning too so not bad all things considered. I do miss being on the bike.

Anyway I was on the Portobello feeder ride bringing up the rear if anyone wants any pictures I'm happy to post them. Just need a suitable site.

Great event. Fantastic organisation with the feeder rides. I thought the rain would significantly affect attendance, but cyclists – I should have known – are a resilient lot.

Best thing about the event: the speeches. So much better than previous years. Felt like a real demonstration.

My first POP, joined the Leith feeder ride. Loved every minute of it. Cycling home afterwards was a bit of a reality check though. Can you guys all come with me on my work commute?!

Leaving Morningside at noon ensured we stayed dry. Big queue still working its way to the north end of MMW when we arrived.

Excellent sound system this year (possibly the same as the last few years to be honest, but I was recalling the issues from the first couple of POPs).

Great event. Well done all those involved. Speakers especially good-so much more resonant than a bunch of politicians making empty promises. Having endured 2 stupidly fast close passes going round Arthur’s Seat this morning just emphasised how far things need to go to improve. On a personal note, need to get myself along to PY breakfast so I can recognise some of the CCE regulars.
