Realtime Trains wants GPS (train journey) data

    How you can help us We are opening a call for any and all GPS tracks of train services. If you have a smartphone, then there are apps available that will let you log a track and then export it in a GPX format, there are a wide range of options on each app store. Once you have a track exported in GPX format, please email it to tracks@realtimetrains.co.uk with a link to the service from Realtime Trains. Please try and send only one service per track.

    And don't even think about trying to get a GPS signal lock onboard a Voyager or Pendolino, as the windows are aluminimised and the drive systems put out a lot of RF.

    @Arellcat - my absolute hatred of those trains is compounded by the lack of a) train provided wifi and b) inbility to get a signal for hotspotting to my phone.

    Turns train journeys from 3 hours of "get s*** done time" to three hours of reading a book which while not terrible means I still have 3 hours of s*** to get done when I get off the train...
