Now there’s a fine positive headline.

What I don't get is that there is nothing in the bible, Torah, Koran or other holy books or in communist manifesto nor other party pamphlets about man's inalienable right to drive nor park his vehicle. Nor women or any gender fluid person.

Those deck chairs look fab but, are they deck chairs? Having hired out a fair few in my time down Ayr beach they look more like chairs that take up less room?

    Why does rentaquote getaquote?

Neil Greig, its Scottish-based policy and research director, said: “This looks like a recipe for conflict and discord rather than harmony and joy. FoES has to realise it is real people who want to drive into Edinburgh to enjoy the facilities and support the local economy.

“Blocking spaces with no regard for the type of car or why it might be there is just an empty gesture. It would be far better to point their efforts towards improving public transport and making buses more attractive.”

Does that mean he’d be happy for posters and bus maps but not deckchairs??

Presume he’s against Festive ‘beer gardens’ too?

Really is time he gave up this ‘real people drive’ nonsense - SO 1980s and “a recipe for conflict and discord”...

Neil Greig is not real he is a bot programmed by car industry. Though he was very keen on @IWRATS Festival of Diesel.

Spotted twenty MG sports cars in Dumfries and Galloway yesterda and Neil Bot hAs approved via the IAMS surveys of how much we all like cars

I don’t believe balance in written journalism is publishing a golden ratio of for/against vox pops

Some overseas friends drove into Edinburgh - parking in the St James Centre, I think. I gawped at them - drove into Edinburgh? They were used to a driving city, Auckland, but the sheer inconvenience of being tethered to a car eating money in a parking building...

@gembo maybe rebrand pop up park as part of FoD? Could sell it on ability to breathe diesel fumes and associated particulates in a lovely (maybe not technically a) deckchair while a certified Real Person sings a song in praise of diesel? Labelled cutaway diagrams of the diesel engine to take home? Diesel flavoured ice creams for the kids?

@unhurt, following on from PoP and now Festival of Diesel you should give up the archaeology and set up as a festival organiser. Maybe Diesel Jeans will sponsor? Frank Zappa's kid Dweezil might come?

Of course Edinburgh Festival of Diesel is a year round festival.

My home town has a biannual (or do i mean biennial?) new music festival that regularly features a 'harbour symphony' of boat horns....

Biannual is every six months. Bienniel is every two years. E.g the art festival in Venice that occurs every two years is called the Biennale

a symphony for fifty assorted car alarms.

That sounds like something Mark Applebaum would call "interesting".
