    I've been given the task of helping the Hearty Squirrel project (Edinburgh University) look for a cargo trike to carry food up to Kings Buildings.

    They have a budget but I'm only involved as an advisor, not a supplier. Spokes have made a grant available plus other funds have come from elsewhere.
    The budget means E-trikes or Urban Arrows are not really possible anyway so they need to find a used geared trike. Low 7 speed set up at least so it can move uphill slowly at least.
    Yes, a bike trailer could do this but cargo bikes make good advertising platforms and get noticed.

    If anyone has a source let me know. Soul Cycles are agents but we are looking at a budget of c£1k so not a lot of money for even a decent used cargo trike

    Surely £1k must leave enough change after buying a trailer to buy some paint and ensure it gets noticed?

    Eastside look to have an omnium mini on their website at the moment. No idea if they still have it though...

    @Frenchy - yes did suggest that.
    @Juanito - Omnium would be a racy two wheeled alternative but they want three wheels.

    I did also suggest they could hire from Sustrans cargo bike library. Could then see how hard / easy it is to go up to KB. Sustrans have an e-trike.

    Shared cargo bikes and trikes have to fit a wide range of riders and this always becomes a sticking point. Which is why trailers are popular. One shared trailer and many hitches works well.

    Not three wheels, but cheap and a cargo bike...

    @Darkerside - thanks.

    I noted a used trike on that FB site in Inveraray - open for offers too. Then I looked at the lack of disc or decent drum brakes and thought - 'no!'. Not a known make either.

    Soul Cycles have a ex demo Christiania in shop at moment. Ali has been selling a few it seems. One in shop has discs but only 3 speed. Would be ok if it had a big enough sprocket on back 24t or something.
