    Urgh.

    The better comparison for me is the number of cyclists killed in car collisions a year (48) vs the number of pedestrians killed in cyclist collisions (2.8) , because both are proportional to miles travelled by bike. Therefore it's cyclist car interactions that should be the subject of debate- collisions between which are ~70-90% the fault of the driver (various measurements, and that doesn't mean the 30-10% are the cyclists' fault either).

    Although highlighting that protecting people from bicycles can at most make roads ~0.5% safer is also a key message I guess.

    Surely the best argument here is to ask them what they've found out about the terrible carnage caused by all those cyclists in the Netherlands?
