I'm off to a party at Abbotsford House this weekend. I'm aware that the Galafoot Bridge is closed eastbound at the moment, and the diversion is along the A7 to pick up the B6360 which is currently one-way back towards Gala on the other side of the Tweed.
The Amey and Traffic Scotland web sites both say:
The B6360 will operate as a one-way road from A7 Junction 7 to Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott. The Abbotsford Road is only open to buses and coaches from Tweedbank Roundabout to the Abbotsford visitor centre car park.
Which is fine for getting to Abbotsford, but what about getting away? I'm currently assuming that the B6360 is open for two-way traffic between Abbotsford and the Tweedbank Roundabout, but the bit about buses and coaches is confusing me. Does it mean that the road is open only to buses and coaches (ie no other types of vehicle), or open to buses and coaches westward from the Tweedbank Roundabout but eastward for other types of vehicle? Either way I think it is poorly expressed.
I would hope that they're not expecting traffic leaving Abbotsford House to go along the wee back road next to the car park that takes you most of the way to Melrose...
