    @davec spy law tavern colinton, this Thursday after 8.30pm it would seem. Quite close to Polwarth but quite far away from london

    sorry gembo. i shall have returned to edinburgh but doubt i will make it to colinton.

    i just don't have the energy to cycle out to areas i don't know well, after dark, on a school night anymore. apologies to those living in outlying areas who feel left out by us folk who live more centrally.

    always happy to go to diggers, golden rule, akva, cloisters, the fountain or many other places discussed and rejected up-thread.

    The no. 16 bus doesn't run near you does it?

    Also the number 10 goes from Leith walk, to Toll cross, along polworth terrace, up colinton road to the top of the village - about a 5 minute walk from the pub.

    i'd have to have bus fare, and stand in the cold waiting for a bus.

    sorry all. i am just being lazy.

    after discussion at PY i intentionally started this thread suggesting a pub that i figured i could plausibly get to after kids bed times and MrSRd got back from his spinning class but since they were all nixed with an immediate vote to go elsewhere, I decided just to let you all get on with it.

    anyway, have fun.

    Shame, hopefully the tenth birthday celebration drinks will be more convenient. In preparation for nex year I vote diggers as that was where we started meeting in the pub.

    I hope to walk or cycle the three miles or so to colinton on Thursday. Have bright light and might bring a pal given previous form.

    Bring a pal as bright as your light and you'll be right. I will make every effort to be timely.

    @gembo

    My shoulders feel the sting of that lash. Still, my absence was noted and passed into legend. When I'm gone I'll be primarily remembered for not being there.

    @gembo Unfortunately I will have to miss this performance of yours. I have to head back home for a funeral. But I hear that @sheeptoucher will be coming!

    @bill ditto what @gembo said. Sorry to hear.

    If @sheeptoucher is coming he has not confirmed with me. Poor sibling show etc etc. I shall attempt to strongarm him.

    Oh, ha, he and the cousin claimed they would gatecrash but I suspect this is more a notion than a reality...

    I'm afraid I'm going to have to cry off, my wife is unwell so I'm on child care duties.

    I'm out at a pre-booked stand-up that evening, but CCE sitting service sounds far cheaper than planned babysitter. Please advise drop-off instructions or can collect ?

    Put her on the bus with a tenner beer money and send us a text. We'll get her other end. Be fine.

    Streaming a cold. Pub sounds good but cold says otherwise.

    Have changed train and am now arriving back in edinburgh tomorrow at 10:15pm so I might be there in time for a beer around 11 if people are still standing

    I'm staying in town for dinner instead of going home, so will head down to the Spylaw Tav for around 7 for dinner, if anyone wants to join me.

    @SRD, If you want to join me on the number 10 bus out, I can call as I get on the bus and then again as I approach your bus stop. Then I'll be heading back on th same number service so can accompany you back if you are unsure about travelling alone.

    Best wishes. Dave C

    Sorry, have been swithering, but despite the prospect of such good company the dark cycle out into The Uttermost West in the current weather does not appeal, and the bus takes a lifetime.

    I have a bottle of Top Out Staple which I will crack at 8:30pm while ringing my bell in solidarity.

    @urchaidh - if Colinton is the Uttermost West then Balerno is where the saying "There Be Monsters" is inserted?

    @unhurt - good

    @iwrats - hope to see you as have some business
