    anyone have any names/companies they'd recommend ?

intra-Edinburgh move - only 1 km as the crow flies, but I'm no crow.

It's been a while since we moved, but we found Flemings (based in Fife, Inverkeithing IIRC) to be a lot cheaper than any of the Edinburgh-based removals companies. They did a good job.

Murray Moves (recombodna who used to frequent this very forum) will move stuff. Depends if you want the removal company to box things up for you - don't think he does that

Has a tail-lift box van that'll carry pretty much a flat's worth of stuff

I'm sure he could do two runs if needed.

I have a mahoosive bike trailer you can borrow if feeling energetic. (Purchased second hand from recombodna, in fact, and delivered in his van!) (Does still need skewers to attach wheels.)

I would 2nd/3rd Murray Moves. Very friendly and helpful when we moved half a mile down the road. He made several trips and charged us for about an hour's work. We did do all the packing first though.
