Crowe denies causing the death of Stuart Elliott by during an HGV without due care and attention and a failing to carry out mirror checks and failing to observe Stuart Elliott on his bike and colliding with him at Portobello High Street and Sir Harry Lauder Road in Edinburgh on March 13, 2019.

The truck driver is also facing allegations of using a mobile phone while driving his vehicle and to intending to pervert the court of justice by deleting the WhatsApp application from his phone on the same date.

At least Edith Duncan made no plea

John Crowe seems keen to deny things like Whatsapp - why delete that the same day from his phone?

“Cyclists Do Not Undertake warning signs“

    Really??

The fact that can be read two ways is DANGEROUS.

So, no infrastructure for cyclists but a bit of tweaking of road markings, maybe move a pedestrian refuge or two, and some signs. Aye, that'll prevent the next death. Not.

Feels awfully like the Kings Road junction has been firmly put in the 'too difficult/too expensive/cannae do it' box. I wonder whether those signing this off possess first-hand experience of cycling through the junction at peak times. But nice big signs always help.

Who cycles up Lady Road and thinks we need more option 1a around the city. Cars shooting up your inside and outside protected only by paint. (someone who never cycles you assume)

Lady Road particularly nasty as the far side of the junction is a pinch point, and you have to take the lane, which I don't think would be the case here.

To what extent does the modeling of displaced traffic take traffic evaporation into account?

Once the lorry driver witness said he thought the cyclist would be hard to see and beeped his horn to try and give a warning, I think it was almost certain that there would be an acquittal.
