Today I spent half an hour picking screws and nails off the cycle path that runs from Dunfermline to Alloa. Over a 20 metre stretch at the Dunfermline end there were four or five piles scattered right across the cycle path. Not sure if I got everything but just a cautionary note for anyone cycling out this direction to keep an eye out (and help to clear the path if possible).

What’s the protocol for flagging issues like this? Should the council be notified? Sustrans?

Hello Ivangrozni good to hear from you. My protocol is to alert Wingpig who cycles at all times with a brush but that is not much help to you. Specifically between Dunfermline and Alloa? Before Culross or after Culross?

Could be Sustrans could be Fife council could be Clacks Council?

Thanks Ivangrozni for your giving up your time to clear this up. Was thinking of going out that way on Tuesday. I would say a non emergency call to the police. It was meant to cause harm and could have done to dogs or horses that use that path, never mind the obvious target.

@Murun -yes I meant the off-road route! I did a second pass today and picked up another fist full of shrapnel. Everything was contained between the first and second bridge as you head from Dunfermline in the direction of Oakley.

My friend who regularly rides that way has had a couple of punctures in the last few weeks, although from shards of glass rather than nails. I hope it wasn't the same individual who is now doing this.

A friend shared a feed which had described a wire being pulled across a cycle path on the Braefoot trails near Dalgety Bay (where a significant part of Danny Macaskill's latest video was shot). Police have been informed.

There are some sick individuals out there. On a downhill trail that could have been lethal.
