CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Without reading the link first or having the sound turned up I'd guess that it's possibly purportedly due to a hybrid car not emitting as much foul-smelling exhaust as a normal ICE-equipped vehicle or that it's so amazingly purportedly economical and green that it sets an example to the purportedly hitherto greenest vehicle, the cycle.
Or, all cyclists have to stay behind it to be safe as hybrid vehicles in electric mode are deathly silent.
"get out of the way urban driver, you're holding the cyclists up!"
according to the manufacturer's claims in the blurb rather than being a hybrid in the hauling around a generator and batteries and electric motor sense of the word it has some sort of stop-start regenerative braking feature. When you stop, it stores the energy somehow and cuts the engine. When you start it uses some of that captured energy (I assume) to get you going again. Claims for 15% urban driving efficiency improvement (over what it doesn't say).
Still no idea what that's got to do with bikes.
Pointing bloke to crowd: "Hey there's another one of those silly little Citroens, let's all follow him and embarrass him that he's slower than a bicycle round here"
Crowd:"laughs"
Citreon's dream is to have a follow up ad with one bike stuck behind 40 meekro-ebreads!
Yes.. but how are we to fit all these vehicles into the city?
