Does anyone know what's happened to the supposed consultation for here? It was mentioned here more than a year ago but I couldn't find anything more recent. Considering the rest of Picardy Place works are meant to be finished in September I'd have thought something would have appeared by now...

As Seamus Heaney said:

of two things: what’s said and what’s done.

The Island Of Lost Souls best left alone I reckon.
I quite like the Paolozzis in their current location in Hillside Crescent Gardens. Better they stay there than be stranded in the midst of a sea of gyrating motor vehicles pumping out noxious gases...

I was thinking about the Island of Lost Souls last night as I passed the families enjoying this green space alongside the very heavily used cycle infrastructure that seems to have inspired the plans for the IoLS.

@IWRATS, obviously what they should have done there was to build a Pavilion and install some public sculptures. Then that desolate, Ballardian nightmare* would doubtless have been transformed into a family friendly cultural Nirvana of Fringe performers and chortling toddlers, with parents looking on fondly while sipping artisan roasts from a pop-up kiosk nearby.

Architect Robert Maitland crashes his Jaguar one afternoon, marooning himself on “a small traffic island, some two hundred yards long and triangular in shape, that lay in the waste ground between three converging motorway routes”. Injured and hidden from the passing motorists, Maitland withdraws into his own skull.

Per the Broughton Spurtle, this will eventually happen early 2020.
Considering that Picardy Place will be, well, built surely there's not that much they can really consult on? Other than moving some sculptures and trees around that is.
"A Council spokesperson tells us that,
owing to the changes in the original scope
of works following public consultation,
work on Picardy Pl has taken 4 months
longer than first envisaged. It will end on
budget in Jan 2020. Design of the new
tramstop is under way, and expected to
be ‘substantially completed’ in the fourth
quarter of 2019 following which the
earlier public consultation process will be
‘reinvigorated’. "Posted 5 years ago # -
I'm going to respond with great vigour demanding the traffic island be a perfectly level and smooth plane of obsidian. No, Trinitite in fact as this is ground-zero for place-making.
