07:45 – 09:30
A well-attended annual event organised by SPOKES and paid for by the Council to thank local cyclists. Free breakfasts are served to around 350 people who cycle in on their way to work. There will be a dozen stalls on cycle–related topics, including a Spokes stall selling the popular Edinburgh and Lothians maps at discounted prices, a full bike check and chain lube service. Police will be there for security marking, and SPOKES launches its annual Summer Competition. The event draws to an end with a few encouraging words from Councillors around 8.30 and there is usually a prize draw for a £50 Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op voucher. Catch up with your cycling friends and inform yourself about what is going on in the cycling world over a coffee and bacon bun – vegetarian and healthy options also available, but come early to get the full range.

Looking forward to this tomorrow! Well, if I can wake up at 07:45 that is. Tough ask for a student...

A somewhat chilly morning, a crazy traffic jam blocking the route to the City Chambers from George IV Bridge, no bacon or fruit juice when I was seeking my breakfast, and my roll was 'filled' with just two sausages yet others had received three, but it was a worthwhile event as usual and it was nice to see forumites and a swift overhead.

Typically, this was the one morning this month when I couldn't make it :(. Next year!

sausages & strawberries were consumed.
I did note that Unhurt had a 3 sausage bap. Can only assume favouritism.

Proud member of the 3-sausage club. Didn't get a coffee though...

Got a Spokes Map.
Had a banana and strawberries followed by a three sausage bap!
Two coffees in my "Keep Cup".
Met @Arrelcat (nice to put a face to a name). Saw the famous "Red Torpedo".

What a MACHINE!!!!!
[/JeremyClarkson]Spoke to the owner of a bike I'm interested in buying new.
Disappointed at the event that the Council had no segregation of rubbish into general waste, recyclables and composting :-( .....

I forgot to bring my Pokito cup so just had a sausage roll. Except they were about to run out of veggie sausages, so I harumphed and had the last one alongside a non-veggie one. It may have had something to do with aiming to arrive early enough for food but late enough to not get too cold standing around until such time as the card shop in town opened*.
Assorted spots included Morningsider, gembo, Laid Back, unhurt, friskiffla, Frenchy, Kim, Tulyar, the aforementioned twinspark, and possibly IainMcR but I don't know what he looks like. Other people asked about the torpedo and I immediately forgot their names.
* An hour later than I thought.
