I'm setting a quiz at my work with a tour de france theme. And a few other random questions.

Since I'm pretty confident no one at my work is on here, thought I'd give you guys a shot, although for people here, the cycling questions may be too easy...

    1. What year was the 1922 committee formed in?

    2. What happened on the 4th of June in these years and countries?
    a. 4 June 1979 in Ghana
    b. 4 June 1989 in China

    3. What does the German word "Hamsterkaufe" translate as non-literally?

    4. What was the first city in which a government used tanks to quell civil unrest?

    5. What is the largest land-locked state?

    6. Who was the first British cyclist to win a stage of the Tour de France:

    a) Tom Simpson
    b) David Millar
    c) Bradley Wiggins
    d) Brian Robinson

    7. Who was the first British cyclist to win a ‘jersey’ at the Tour de France?

    a) Tom Simpson
    b) David Millar
    c) Philippa York
    d) Mark Cavendish
    e) Brian Robinson

    8. Who was the first cyclist born in the British Isles to win the Tour de France?

    b) Mark Cavendish
    c) Chris Froome
    d) Geraint Thomas

    9. What year was road tax abolished?
    a. 1926
    b. 1937
    c. 1956
    d. 1983

    10. What cycling world record is current held by two Scottish cyclists: Mark Beaumont set in 2017 and Jenny Graham set in 2018.

    Tiebreaker:

    What eminent British politician said:

“Entertainments may be taxed; public houses may be taxed; racehorses may be taxed and the yield devoted to the general revenue. But motorists are to be privileged for all time to have the whole yield of the tax on motors devoted to roads. …. It will be only a step from this for [motorists] to claim in a few years the moral ownership of the roads their contributions have created.”
