    “it would be King Crimson”

    Ok

    New poll

Who’s old enough to have seen/heard of them?

And ‘are they now a cult band with YP?’

Drummer Bill Bruford wrote about his experience when he joined KC.

Founder Robert Fripp more or less told him to 'forget anything you've learnt up to now'. Obviously he didn't but had no idea if what he was doing was what was required.

I have a made in West Germany CD version of 'Discipline' where Bruford joins Adrian Belew and Tony Levin.
Some tracks are still ahead of the curve.
    Talking Heads related.
I borrowed a remastered CD but didn't sound better to me. Early digital was bad on some recordings but this one comes over well.

On the poll, i have heard of King Crimson but not old enough (just)

Was Robert Fripp married to Toyah for a while? (It’s A Mystery singer)

    Still is.

    You need Googlesearch.

An awful lot more detail if you google Toyah.

For the first 19 years of their marriage the couple rarely saw each other for more than 12 weeks a year

King Creosote was maybe inspired by King Crimson? Or not. Would be interesting to here members of the Fence Collective tackling one of their pop numbers (21st Century Schizoid Man would be a good one).

    @chrisfl - thank you!

I ride a Vitus Zenium SL Pro (it says here), usually on the pavements with my five year old on the way to school/swimming.

I also have a Super Galaxy that I toured around Europe over a decade ago, a mountain bike and a Dutch omafiets that's too difficult to maintain so hasn't seen daylight for years.

that's all very well, but do you put your pannier on the left or the right?

    Thank you @chrisfl!

I ride an EBC courier race with a hub dynamo, and a slightly worn out ridgeback horizon tourer when I escape Edinburgh, usually by train somewhere north and west of here involving ferries...

    Hello all,

Helped set up my previous employer as a cycle friend employer (maybe 4/5 years ago now), after being encouraged to start commuting by bike by a colleague. I stumbled across the site around then.

Now commute by bike when I can to avoid Scotrail and take part in the odd sportive.

Can be found on the Lanark Road and around town on my mainly white cannondale with front and back guards.

    Cheers!

Re King Crimson. This on YouTube:

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, King Crimson are releasing 50 rare or unusual tracks from the archives. Starting on 13th January, the date the band was formed in the Fulham Palace Café in 1969, these tracks will be released one a week for the remaining 50 weeks of 2019. Each track will be introduced by a commentary from David Singleton, King Crimson manager and producer.

Welcome to Dalmeny - who I think will introduce themselves.

and also to Jack who included "‘Jack’ is the popular name for people from my home town, but I am of course in Edinburgh now." in there email; I'm trying to work out where Jack's hometown is?

Swansea from list of UK names for inhabitants on wiki

Some require more verification as I believe them to be made up insults

Though Monkey Hangers for the people of Hartlepool is linked to them hanging a monkey as they thought it was a Frenchman (so made up but historically not from the wiki list of made ups)

And Corby has Plastic Jocks which is good.

    Thanks for the welcome @chrisfl!

I ride a Cube ebike most of the time, although potter about on a hybrid from time to time.

Can't speak for anyone else @gembo, but I've been lurking for years, very intermittently. Seeing the way the community here is making some arrangements for tomorrow really confirmed it's one I want to be a part of.
