Goes to Post Office Brae in Tobermory. Gradient of 19% so nowhere near the welsh one. We rented a holiday cottage at the top of it once but i dont remember the steepness

    Ramsay Lane second

Streets were nominated by the public. Condition appears to have been residential street in built up area.

Wan Lockheed may have highest street but not the steepest

I once found a guy asleep on the ground in Post Office Brae with his watch, wallet and keys carefully laid out on the bonnet of the car he was lying in front of.

We were worried he'd roll into the sea so we took him home with us.

Steepest I ride regularly is Lady Brae in Gorebridge but by the standards of the top fifteen it's not that steep. I might check out the one in Gala.

EDIT: The Lady Brae climbs 70 metres in 400 metres in its central section - that's about 1 in 7 or about 17%.

According to @kaputnik, Gloucester Street is steeper than Ramsay Lane.

I trust the OS's data, of course, but it doesn't look like they checked Gloucester Street.

Steepest road definitely steeper than steepest street. There's a bit on the scenic detour going north from (I think) Lochinver that has a short stretch that's signposted as 25%. Mental! Had to get off and push because the front wheel was lifting as I moved forwards at a knee-abusing 3mph...

I don't think Lady Brae is 17% anywhere - definitely has 70+ metres of ascent but in substantially more than 400m

According to here (press E to turn on elevation), Lady Brae has very short sections of 16%, but mostly it's less than that.

Gloucester Street is max. 14%, although further along at Wemyss Place (same link) it's supposed to be 18%.

Kirk Brae always feel too steep at the start of a commute home.
Hills are usually hardest in the early part of "the season". Jelly legs often occur in the Tour of East Lothian.

I often holiday near Harlech but have never tried cycling up the infamous lane. I have too much respect for the age of my knees. There are plenty of other very steep (and long) hills around there as well, some with slippery sheep deposits to help.

The climbs up from S. Queensferry on Hawes Brae or The Loan especially are 15%. Many an interval on a Carlton 531c when I lived there.
The Brae in North Queensferry from the rail bridge up to the Station averages 11% but supposedly 21% above the "lassettes". Single interval on a 6-speed when I lived there :)
Kingscavil deserves honourable mention, joint it up with Bridgend or Ecclesmachan up West Binny.

Ravelrig Road seems excessively steep not quite sure why its on route 75 when quicker better ways to get to edinburgh than ravelrigh and water of leith, warriston farm road cross Curriehill road research avenue North then tram path or canal far quicker and easier.

I think Ravelrig road is too steep it wears out gears on the way up and wears down brakes on the way down.

part of the Talla Wall is 23% and I have zero issue getting off and pushing. It's too far from home to be going deep into the red just because.

Does Fishmarket Close count as a street? have cycled up there a few times but it is mercifully short.
