The most useful thing anyone ever told me about this forum?

'click on the right-hand-most column ('latest post') to see the most recent post'.

eg where it says '3 mins' opposite the thread title.

If you click on the subject line you may find yourself wading through years of old posts.

The downside of this being my muscle memory is I have a tendency to delete private messages.

The grey "search all forums" box in the Advanced Search is not the button to initiate the search, despite being the correct colour, but is instead a drop-down.

There are also secret hyperlinks in the horizontal grey menu bar.

@steveo sorry! and thank you for sharing in the first place

How about 'you have to refresh your browser to see when people reply to your posts'?

If you know what RSS is, then there is a feed of all posts which is a great way of following all conversations, there is a link a the top of the right sidebar.

If you don't know what RSS is then you can use http://www.irreverence.co.uk/ccefeed/ as a way of following new posts.

Also using the site:citycyclingedinburgh.info thing - in google often works much better than the build in search.

I'll second CCEfeed. It makes the forum much easier to read.

Although it does leave a tendency to read absolutely everything.

If no one will say it then I will...

Don't worry we don't understand the majority of @Gembo's cultural references either ;-)

@Gembo Don't get me wrong I love the cultural references, I just wish I knew what they related to.

“Don't worry we don't understand the majority of @Gembo's cultural references either ;-)”

    It had to be said.

    HOWEVER

I often thing many of the ‘cultural references’ are made up.

    Or deliberately twisted semi-autobiographical references.

BUT importantly, gembo is usually the first poster of the day so I know the forum is still alive.

    UPDATE

Recently there are also insomniacs and/or shift workers.

    Perhaps.

But it would take a new lifetime to check out the proportion of ‘cultural references’ and fake ones.

+3 to gembo. Every forum needs its "character".

    FAIR?

    Who’s to decide??

(P.s. Everyone I have met from CCE has great character.)

(I would've posted this in the "Future of CCE" thread, but it seems to be closed)

Sometimes people post pictures without any context. This has the effect of making CCE feel non-inclusive. Basically, it becomes like there are those "in the know" (who recognise where/who/what the pictures are) and those who are not.

Of course, those not in the know could feel left-out, or excluded...
