tonight was fine, thanks for the concern - appreciated.

i think it will be shorts again 2moro, but which pair. The black ones or the ever so slightly off-black ones ?

Tell me when the image is required. I shall have my factor make a diary entry to call on your factor.

@IWRATS - thanks for all the PMs.

Yes I opted for the slightly-off black ones.

@McR I was hoping against hope itself. I'm such an éminence grise am I not?

As you get a wee bit older, and the likelihood of troublesome soft tissue injuries increases, you'll realise that there is no case for not covering up those legs.

@IWRATS, éminence grise possibly, although I was thinking more Oscar Zoroaster. It's a thin line.

@Iain McR, why are you still on about shorts when all the smart money has moved on to pondering the weight of merino baselayers?

Because I bombard him with shorts-oriented PMs morning, noon and night.

My base layer today is a dusty pink cotton French cuffed shirt that I bought from M&S in the Gyle in 2008.

Elastic bands required to make the neoprene overshoes work this morning. Replacements on they way from eBay.

    Shorts a distant memory.

Ran in shorts this morning to do school run (kids on bikes) deliver spokes leaflets in Dalgety Bay and Hillend and to do shopping (running equivalent of quaxing?). Was perfectly comfortable.

But running is different. Have been wearing tights on the bike the last couple of weeks.

This morning on Montrose Terrace, spotted a "brave" young chap riding a bike in very short shorts, and minimalist trainer "socks" beneath trainers. Ambient temperature around 1 degree celsius, no breeze to speak of, ice patches on road and footway, sun not yet high enough to de-frost. Aforementioned cyclist paused at the lights, so I was able to observe his legs were looking rather pink, and the hairs on said limbs appeared to be fluffed up to conserve heat as best they could...

I saw a cyclist in shorts on Slateford Rd at 6.30 this morning. He was moving very, very slowly.

My husband wore shorts to cycle to the Commie yesterday evening. His knees were not cold, but his feet were cold... how do I convince him that these two things might be related?

  21. Put the bib longs on this morning; a wise choice, as the Garmin showed that the temp got down to -6.2C on the way into work between the Balgreen tram path and Edinburgh Park around 6.30am!

Lot of shorts and t shirts out today for some reason. Had trousers over top of bib longs earlier, was a bit hot

It's been a while but I was back in shorts this morning. It may only have been 6 degrees but it felt balmy.

Lots of frost on cars and in verges of West Lothian this morning. Nice that the frost waited a few days and didn't happen during 'summer'.

My outfit: shorts, merino shirt+merino arm warmers+ two long jerseys, full-fat winter gloves. My hands definitely think it's winter weather. Those gloves actually kept the whole body pretty warm. Yesterday I had my finger-less gloves and I was quite chilly.

We went out after 5pm yesterday when it dropped to 6 or 7 degs around Temple. Both with short fingered mitts. Big mistake. Fortunately my OH had some plastic bags in her ebike trunk

Sunday: biked up and down around Midlothian all afternoon in shorts and t-shirt.

Thursday: WFH with my hands clamped around a huge cup of tea, and wearing my thick bodywarmer and slipper socks.

Autumn can [rule 2] well [rule 2] off. And it's not even winter yet.

I wore a second top layer on a couple of occasions over the past couple of weeks. I'll have to find all my long-fingered glubs and make sure they're all washed and paired-up.

    glubs ?

    Noun
The sound of underwater bubbles, or of water bubbling (often used repetitively).

did stuff the long fingered gloves in bag this morning 'just in case'. sigh.
