As she reflected on her visit to the US, Thunberg urged people to spread awareness of the climate crisis.

“Even if the politics needed doesn’t exist today, we still need to use our voices to make sure that the people in power are focused on the right things. Because this is a democracy, and in a democracy, people are the ones who run the country. I know it doesn’t seem that way, but if enough people were to decide they have had enough, then that could change everything. So don’t underestimate that power.”

There's a degree of indifference. He has far more influence as a councilor than he would as an MP. We all know he'll be an MSP if there's another Holyrood election.

This whole thing is like watching an election in Serbia. I don't want the fascists to win but there's little I can do - it's another country.

At least Nick Cook is pro-buses.

If he becomes an MSP, it’s likely he’ll be replaced by an even more gammon, pro-driving, anti-everything-else councillor on the transport committee

Thinking of some other Tory councillors here...

Nigel Farage has insisted he will stand candidates in Labour-held marginal seats, despite coming under pressure from the Conservatives to step aside.

Edinburgh South voted over 50% Remain. 50% of the total electorate, not the turnout. Brexit Party would risk getting thrown in the Braid Burn.

Cycled past Ian Murray outside Liberton Primary this morning. Slightly surprised myself by calling "Morning, Ian", and received a cheery "Morning!" in return.

Walked past the Labour battle bus in Dundee this morning. Police officers stationed around the place indicated to me that Corbyn was in town and presumably needed protecting, who from was less clear.

The leader of the opposition always gets police protection during a general election period, as they could potentially be PM in a few weeks time. Seems reasonable to me.

Boris Johnson cancels Glastonbury event at short notice as protest gathers

There were lively scenes in Glastonbury as Boris Johnson dodged a crowd of protesters at a bakery in a business park on the outskirts of the Somerset town.

Word got out that Johnson was on his way and a crowd of about 100 – including Extinction Rebellion protesters, musicians and even a bard – turned up to greet him at the Burns the Bakery unit.

    Verdict

The Conservative party analysis uses confused methodology to present a highly manipulated and selective picture.

And let’s not forget, Yorkshire is a big place – it has a population the same size as Scotland’s and two-thirds the size of London’s. It really could be where the election is won or lost – and the amount of time both leaders have spent here in the past few months suggests they know that too. It’s certainly not inconceivable that Johnson’s complacency in the region could help to cost him the election.

Nice bit of filming, but at 00:28 the drone drifts into shot top left.

    Mr Ferry stood last time and got 1,949 votes;

    Conservative David Mundell Votes 24,177
Scottish National Party Mairi McAllan Votes 14,736
    Labour Douglas Beattie Votes 8,102
Liberal Democrat John Ferry Votes 1,949

Tories put almost all of their money into getting the then Governor General re-elected. Who knows this time, given the frosty relationship with the prime minister?

    Delusional politics on STV tonight.

Court has saved viewers in England from having too much Scottish interference in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It's our fault we've got here you know and all these court actions in Edinburgh prove that we aren't interested in constructive UK politics?

So we can look on as spectators from our northern viewpoint to see:

    - Leader of the Brexitory Party, B Johnson
    versus
    - Leader of British Broadband Party, J Corbyn

Expect they will train their firepower onto the 'divisive' SNP and LibDems who won't be able to answer until later. (Not saying that all Labour politicians are signed up to free broadband intitiative but this is a unique to Labour offer).

It’s not just Boris Johnson’s lying. It’s that the media let him get away with it

    Peter Oborne

    ...

As someone who has voted Conservative pretty well all my life, this upsets me. As the philosopher Sissela Bok has explained, political lying is a form of theft. It means that voters make democratic judgments on the basis of falsehoods. Their rights are stripped away.

Lesley Riddoch writing for the National today. Chimes in with Andrew Tickell's view that BJ's failure to use a mop correctly was a huge selling point to some.

"The grim reality is that Boris was rated twice as prime ministerial as Corbyn by viewers of the debate, not despite his arrogance, but because of it. A significant proportion of English voters evidently believe a complete indifference to the opinion of others is an essential prerequisite for any prime minister. Leadership is Etonian. That’s how bad the crisis in English democracy has become, and Labour would need a truly charismatic person, an extremely cunning gameplan, or a different electorate to succeed – one instinctively receptive to ideas of equality and repelled by the thought of being governed by public schoolboys. QT election special. 4 leaders tonight.
#JimmyKrankie trending. (Unionist term of endearment for the FM's appearance on the GE show).
She came across as fairly coherent - so unfashionable in politics these days.
Jeremy Corbyn also put up a spirited performance against some hostile questioning.
Jo Swinson didn't do so well.
BJ just did his usual show!*
The audience were pretty good too.

Neat tweet here picking up the Krankie theme. No doubt the Tory Factcheckers will be on to it. Some of it must be true though?

*BJ went on and on about 'when I was London mayor' that he did ok.
He was around at time of Crossrail. Cost now up from £14Bn to £17Bn. Not open yet afaik. Ok he did promote cycling too.
