they can use whatever imaginary money tree that they want

Sterling is literally created out of thin air.

The question is how we dispose the real-world assets whose value money is intended to represent.

True, I quite liked the humorous take on 'money', and 'debt' that The Laundromat (netflix film) took.

    "guide launched to thwart SNP"

Yep, Labour SNP marginal for me. Labour win last time, hopefully again this time.

Shame the article doesn't link to the site, handy to distribute. Will go and find it...

There's a list to thwart the Tories down south too.

Just hearing now on grapevine from someone who I wouldn't associate with 'gossip'.

SNP suspending our candidate because of anti-Semitism. Wow.

Should make the Labour win easier if true

    *Edit: TRUE

Not watching it live but Twitter tells me that "Channel 4 News replaces Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage with two ice sculptures at climate debate.

The two party leaders have been replaced with two ice sculptures after they chose not to attend the debate being hosted by Channel 4 News on Thursday. Michael Gove arrived in an attempt to represent the Conservatives, but was unsuccessful."

    That last line is excellent.

Good that action was taken. Also heard that former Provost of Glasgow is paying a quarter of her expenses back.

Ch4 debate - learnt that Jo Swinson is kind to hedgehogs, Jeremy Corbyn has green fingers etc. Nicola Sturgeon had to answer how Scotland would transfer from oil to renewables. This problem would still be there even if Holyrood didn't exist and we were merely a county of the UK.
Nuclear came up - one of the few occasions where candidates disagreed. Stations in Scotand are EDF facilities of course and only partially working due to faults?

Tonight I went to Channel 4 to talk about climate change but Jeremy Corbyn and Nicola Sturgeon refused to debate a Conservative

I don't think this is true. He was refused by the Channel 4 editor because it was a leaders debate, and he is not a leader.

The whole Gove thing was carefully coordinated stunt to make it look like chaos:

    https://twitter.com/Peston/status/1200164018679427088

Classic Vote Leave tactics this whole “Gove turns up” while CCHQ complains to regulator Ofcom about Ch4 barring him. It is all about proving to supporters that the London media establishment are against them (don’t laugh) while trying to intimidate all broadcasters, while...

Think there's more than a bit of pettines here on both sides. It's not the first time a party has ssent a proxy to a debate.

CH4 really should have let him in, though they had gone to the trouble of having an ice statue built and really wanted to show it. On other haand turning up off the cuff 'mic'ed up' without prior warning equally petty.

“CH4 really should have let him in”

    Well -

CH4 invited leader of C Party.

At what point did he make it clear he wasn’t coming?

When was ‘I could send someone else’ offered?

IF it was a few days in advance, presumably they got a ‘no’ answer(?)

IF Gove just turned up a short time before the show, did he really expect to be allowed on air??

Hats off to C4. Leader's debate. Only boJo and Farage not there. All other leaders of all parties showed up.

BoJo and Farage destroyers of our environment? Despite boJo cycling he declines to debate climate change. Maybe to avoid upsetting His Trumpness. Same goes with Farage though he does not even cycle

    The Keeling Curve can only change direction if;

    1) There is international agreement to leave fossil fuels in the ground
    2) There is a new understanding of what constitutes wealth
    3) The newly understood wealth is shared equitably

The UK of GB&NI's December Regime will not engage in any of these things I don't think.

    @IWRATS

A few clicks around that website has thoroughly depressed my pre-lunch-break break. Scary stuff, exacerbated by 'politics'.

Fill in CEC climate change survey? Cheered me up.

I invited them to crackmonnwith banning single occupant vehicles from city centre. Pointed out it was not even a vote loser as many of the drivers come from outwith Edinburgh

@baldycyclist, I was in trouble before for overcooking the gammon

you were in trouble for wee jimmy kranking it I think?

BoJo is I think merely a foreshortening of the name of that particular cat. Scaredy cat when it comes to climate change debates etc

I like to refer to politicians as Mrs, Mr and Ms to remind me that they are both human and ordinary.

I'm very tempted by Wild Bill Rennie because he is a bicyclist and quite affable in real life but no. Mr Rennie.

@gembo, I'm quite sure BoJo is a clown reference, or at least in my - not as sophisticated as CCE circles - it is. :)

So quite equivalent to Krankie in those not so sophisticated circles.

I'm quite comfortable with satire though, going to run off before I get myself into bother again...

edit: There's something quite odd about being too posh to be working class, and too common to be middle class.

I often forget, or don't even realise which humour is appropriate in either domain, mostly resulting in my getting into trouble. ;)
